This year, Best Beloved took me out for breakfast...we should have gone later and had brunch. Do something indulgent! I know lots of people my age who say that birthdays aren't worth celebrating as you get older, but consider the alternative! There's an eternity without birthday parties once you're six feet under! My 96 year old grandmother belonged to a group of seniors who met once a month for a birthday lunch for all the members who'd had birthdays. She adored being taken out for breakfast, and insisted on going to a certain pancake house on her birthday because her breakfast was free! Until a month before she died, she still had a weekly dance date with a man 12 years her junior!
(And yes, I am my grandmother's granddaughter!)
