You don't. In Vancouver the risk is small if you choose your SP carefully, but the risk will never be zero unless and until the laws change.

ENTRAPMENT by police is illegal in Canada, & is cause for dismissal by a judge when it is found to have occurred.

Yes. The doctrine of entrapment in Canada, as I* understand it, is a remedy that the defense can employ only after a defendant is found guilty. It is then up to a judge to decide whether or not law enforcement somehow coerced the defendant(s) to commit acts that they would not have ordinarily.

I had a client who is a police officer the other day... As he explained it escorts are of very little concern to the police here. Trafficking and under age working ladies/men would be their focus. They have more important things to do than bust two (or more) consenting adults.
I have a regular client that is Seattle PD. He does the drive down from Seattle once a month on Sunday because its so safe here to partake in the hobby compared to South of the border. As he says "no one gets busted here unless you are really stupid"

I think the OP needs to understand a couple of major things. Never discuss specifics - it is time and companionship only. Never pick up someone who is working on the street (I know there are those that do, but the risk in my opinion is too big). Always make sure she is of age - any doubt, walk away. In Vancouver, she must be at least 19 years old. So, the girls advertising as 18 are potential problems, as they are more then likely to be even younger then that. Not always, but the Vancouver laws indicate they must be 19. Other parts of Canada allow 18 - so just be cautious.
There isn't a cop in this land that could ever MAKE me do something. So, no, they could not hire me to trick you. Ain't going to happen. However, there are stings in areas. They are going after under aged and those being forced/controlled by others. working on the streets. They are complaint driven. I work in this industry of my own free will. There is not anyone who can stop me from what I choose to do. Remember, it is legal for me to sell my services, however, it is illegal for you to purchase them. This is why I never specify what my services are. You are hiring me for a period of time - what we do together in that time is between you and I.

When you are driving down the highway that is posted for 100 kph and you are traveling at 105 kph you are breaking the law. Is the cop at the side of the road going to pull you over? No. If you are doing 105 and swerving all over the road he will probably pull you over for intoxicated driving and throw in the charge of speeding.
Soooo, If you pick up a streetwalker and a cop happens to be driving by, hey who knows, maybe he is having a bad day and you might get nabbed. If you go to a "brothel or amp" that has underage girls or girls from out of country that have lost custody of their passports and are trying to work off their debts and its under investigation you may find yourself in a world of hurt.
Go to a respected and reviewed independent or like us a group of ladies that work together and you will have no problem. We do not show up on their radar at all. Much bigger fish to fry.

It will be very interesting to see how the trail for prostitution turns out in Seattle for the people who founded thereviewboard.net and its supporters and reviewers. I saw one of the "trafficked" ladies out once. She was dressed like she was going to a club after a model shoot with a happy go lucky face expression. Not sure if the original 12 are rotting away in jail or free on bond. The bust happened in January.

Take it all with many, many grains of salt. There are so many flawed opinions and misinterpretations of the current laws being posted that despite members' sincere attempts at being helpful, they often end up simply spreading misinformation. MissingOne and vancity_cowboy's posts are the only ones that hold true while these laws are on the books. For now, "you pays your money, you takes your chances!" And each one of us must decide for ourselves what risks we're willing to take in the current legal climate.
And as bbb pointed out, reading through reverdy's media thread is a great way to get an idea of how and where the laws are being enforced and applied.

As I've noted in the past, this is not entirely accurate. Remember, "invalidity" of the provisions that were struck down by the Supreme Court was "suspended for one year" in the decision to give the gov't time to address the decision with new legislation and C-36 was their answer. And the bawdy house section was addressed in the new legislation. The following screen cap was taken from a parliamentary web site and explains it better than I can:
And I also recall that in the time since the new legislation has taken effect, one of the news reports posted on the forum in regards to a Korean micro that was busted included some of the men discovered there at the time being charged with being in a bawdy house.
