I can confirm hospital food really sucks. The portions were too small, barely any taste, the vegtables were overcooked.

I survived with granola bars. But I would like to know how any body, no matter how bad of a cook they are can screw up boiled vegtables. What I got served was boiled vegtable that were really over boiled, mushy and with the taste completely boiled out.

When I was in the hospital in 2002 I refused to est the hospital food that they tried to serve me. before I saw it I was willing but then they put that crap in front of me and I gagged. I had my Baby's dad make me homemade food and bring it too me. The only thing I did eat though were the fruit cups:)

I actually got roast beef, veggies, potatoes, etc., and it was almost as good as home made!!!!

Things sure have changed, I guess. I was at Vancouver General, where my appendix almost burst before they took it out:(

Your lucky. I was in Grand River Hospital back east, and goddam there food was NASTY. I am a little picky though when it comes to what I puit in my mouth though LOL:cool: .
There could have been people that really enjoyed that muck they served, meh.......all I know is I was happy eating fried chicken and rice and peas lol. Soo good. Should make it for dind in tonight actually!!!:)

Well, with all the contracting out of services that the Liberal government has done here in BC, I can see how the quality would have gone down. I'm fairly picky, but I really thought it was pretty good.

Last time I was in a hospital was in Bangkok the food was healthy, lows on calories and western style. Oh, the thai nurses are :) :) slim and nice.

If the food services are contracted out maybe there is a lack of consistency in the quality of the food. It could have been due to the fact that this was the week before the long weekend the regular people may have gone on an early vacation and their replacements may not know what they are doing.

I read an article the other day that states prisons gets a bigger food budget (~$11) than hospitals (~$6 - $8), no wonder the food is bad.

Just had some steamed brocolli and it was great. Your right steaming veggies is the only way to go.
