hiv (seroconversion)

9 weeks ago, during covered FS with a SP, the condom broke, I'm not entirely sure when, but exposure would've been <5minutes. I had a dry patch of skin near my foreskin that chafed and was red (like it lost a layer of skin, but not bleeding) afterwards. SP swore she was clean and tested recently, unfortunately, the SP is no longer in the country and is unreachable.

Did standard STI tests (with an hiv test) within 2-3 weeks. All negative.

This week I've been hit quite hard by tonsillitis (after a day, went to see and was diagnosed by my GP, he did not take a swab), swollen lymph nodes in my neck, sore neck, fatigue, slight fever (99.2), chills, headache, sore throat (inflamed tonsils with a white pus-like sore on the right side). I've been on antibiotics for 2 days and while all the other symptoms have cleared I still have a sore throat (the visible white sore seems to have grown larger, but less painful).

I have another hiv test scheduled in a little over two weeks (12 weeks to the initial exposure). I'm quite freaked out that I'm suffering through seroconversion. I feel like I might be stressing myself out and making myself even sicker. Should I see if I can schedule an earlier hiv test? Any other advice or things I can do to prepare, am I doomed?

Most often seroconversion illness happens within 2 - 4 weeks after contact with HIV.
It sounds like your symptoms showed up much later than that.

It would make sense to complete your antibiotics first.
Then if you still have symptoms in your throat you can return to your doctor.

It also makes sense to wait a few more weeks for the HIV test.
Then you have gone through the "window" period ...... or the outside time it takes for the test to detect HIV. We say that is 3 months.

It would make sense to get a syphilis test at the same time.
The window for that test is 10 days - 3 months.

And no I do not think you are doomed at all. It is possible to get HIV on a one time contact but it is does not often happen that way.
It would unlucky.

It can be hard waiting.
Some things people try are distraction, keeping busy and staying off the internet at this time.

Right now you have done all that you can and have a good plan in place.

Would you recommend PEP treatment to similar cases as the OP has experienced where there is a condom breakage during protected intercourse with an SP?
