I had a covered vaginal sex with two SP's back in second week of May 2011. I can't recall if I got oral sex by them. I'm pretty sure condoms were fine during whole period of sex.

After 2-3 weeks I developed Herpes Zoster type of symptom on just left side of my stomach. It went away after 3-4 weeks. I ignored my symptom at that time and carried on. Now, I think about it, it gives me a lot of scaring thoughts of about possible HIV infection.

Any help HN?

Thanks HN.

Hi smooth

It is common for people to think about HIV when they are concerned about sexually transmitted infections (STI), it’s the worst one. The information on the internet does not help as it seems that any kind of symptom can be related to HIV.

With the sex you described “covered vaginal sex” and the type of symptoms you had I would not be concerned about HIV, but since it is on your mind I would suggest going in for a HIV test.

Just remember that most people do not get symptoms to STI. This is why we recommend going in for a test every so often.

Shingles (herpes zoster) is a common skin condition that can be painful. There is medication your doctor can prescribe to help with symptoms. Link for more information about shingles. http://www.healthlinkbc.ca/kb/content/major/hw75433.html

Syphilis is also an infection that can cause strange skin rashes that can come and go. I would recommend getting a test for this. Here is a link for more information.

Here is a link for all the tests we recommend when you go for an STI check.

Thank you so much HN. I had my HIV test on November 15, 2011, and it came out negative. Such a great relief.

I will surely take a look at those links.

Thank you HN for your time and help.
