Help!!! I Saw Some Creepy Sh*t In Maple Ridge!

Yesterday I was driving along lougheed highway close to Maple Ridge & I saw a medium sized, about 15pound thing walk veryyyyyy slowly across the highway, I almost ran the sucker over! It looked like a rat with a weird face that kinda looked like those animals that suck up ants. It had a long thick tail and it had a long nose with black eyes and greyish coat.

Im just wondering if anyone knows what the hell im talking about lol!

I know the name of the animal I saw I just can't put my finger on it!
Its in the middle of a rat and ant eater i think, i have never seen one of these in canada so Im guessing they only come out occasionally.
I will post some pics if i find what im looking for, and any help would be appreciaited lol! its really bothering me!

Possums are all over N. America and we havea big healthy population of the ugly fuckers. New Zealand has over 70 million of those critters which works out to a ratio of 20:1 with humans.
