I am trying to download/install Microsoft Works (The Essential Tools for your Home PC) & every time that I try to, it stops about 2/3's of the way thru... Telling me "INTERNAL ERROR 2349" wtf?

I REALLY REALLY need a program to type letters and the like, so what is a SOLUTION? Is there a download online FREE that I can get this same program? Or something like it (very close if not same???)

Need immediate help, as busily doing a transcriptionist job Of course that is when it goes KAPUT

To work around this issue, use a CD-ROM drive to install Office 2000.

Well that is all great but I **just** have a a Plextor CD-RW drive, or a Compaq CRD 8484b DVD drive sooooooooooooooo

still no resolution???

if you're installing directly with the download... reads like you are... try saving it to your disk first & then installing from that point.

- as well...try turning off your Virus Checking software during the install as there seems to be suggestion that it can also be a factor in receiving the error you describe (but of course, virus check your downloaded file first, before installing it )

- it's sometimes associated with bad media... which wouldn't apply with your download scenario

this works ... and will read word documents too ...

open office


when you get there, click on the Downloads tab at the top of the page and then select the Latest Stable Release 1.1.4

installs easy and works great.

Ok Kiddo,
Went right to Microsoft for this, the error is associated with Office install and is either to do with the disk not reading correctly or your anti-virus contaminating the install.

Either of your disk's should work but depending how they're configed blah blah..............try both i normally have better luck with my writer

MAKE SURE that your anti virus is disabled....norton was mentioned specifically.....so turn it off....you may even have to reboot after turning it off then try your install again

If you are using norton it is in two parts...Norton Anti-virus and Norton Web Security.........turn them both off...they are interconnected software

I agree with LG, get open office. Although I don't know it OF will read files saved from MS Works??

Maybe your download of Works is corupted. Maybe the copy your burnt to CD got corupted on the CD.

Burn a new copy, if that doesn't work install Daemon tools or Alcohol 120% and mount it on a virtual drive.

Do a disc clean up of drive c: too.

If that don't work......well MS Works is for skool kids, real men Use Office 2003 professional. I have a copy....matter-o-fact I have the whole friggen 5 disc set. Hahahahahahaha !!!!!!
