Great places to tent here or on island?

Hi all,

Wanting to go tenting in the next month or so and was wondering if anyone had any nice places to go either on the island or the interior.

I went to Cultus Lake last year with some friends - but VERY busy - felt like I was in the city - definately not like I was getting away and enjoying peace and quiet.

Suggestions anyone?

Keats Island has a fantastic campsite which is never full. You can get to it by boat or walk from the ferry landing a couple of miles to the campsite. Plumpers cove on Keats island across from Hopkins Landing or across from Gibsons on the sunshine coast. Check Google Maps

I just got back from camping in Osoyoos.

Oysoyoos is awesome! So hot, as it's desert.. beautiful sunsets, and desert scenery.
I camped at a couple of places. We got a good spot at NkMip campgroup... over looked the lake, and were on the desert mountains. The lower sections are quite full and busy.... but the upper section where the tents were is quieter. I don't like noise, or children - so I like the quiet.

I know that camping is quieter in Rock Creek - but I drove all the way there, but preferred the desert.

I also like Penticton...

On Vancouver Island, Port Alberni was always a fave - Sproat Lake.

I loved Osoyoos so much, I may even camp again there in late August!

It's about 40k of dirt road. Go out to Hope, and find the mountain road southeast. Paved at first. To the northern head of Ross Lake, near the US border. Spectacular. Several good wilderness hiking trails there too. Day hike to Hozomeen Lake. Campground has open grass area, good for frisbee, with play space for kids, even that remote.

Swimming, fishing, boating. Privacy too.

If you really want to avoid crowds, I'd go some place where you have to hike a good 6+ hours to get to your campsite. IMO that's the most rewarding form of camping, partly because there are so few other people around, and those that are around are there because they want to experience nature, not because they want to drink and party and sleep outside.
