Good dance bar where ahem adults (ie 30s-40s) fit in, in Vancouver?

I have a ladyfriend who loves to go dancing - as in club dancing, not ballroom dancing like Federicos on Commercial. I'd like to go too, but I've long been uncomfortable in Vancouver's usual dance bars - the Granville Strip etc places. All 19-23 crowd. Massive douchebag fests. Plus I'm an older guy (43) and my slim and fit days are long past. Even though I'm confident in some things, I lose confidence when I hit these scenes, and it is very age specific.

I've been frustrated with the lack of age-catering dance bars in this city - it is never a problem in Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, NYC; but here, either they're all hidden, or perhaps don't exist?

So... are there good dance bars (good modern music, good vibe, good people) for the 30-40+ crowd in this city?

Go and check out " the Fairview pub " on west broadway. Its more a blues / rock bar place, but might have the feel of what your looking for. Also, you if you happen to venture out to Coquitlam ( close to lougheed mall area ), check out woody's pub.
The Fairview is my kind of place, but not the ladyfriend's kinda place - thanks for the suggestion though! :D

Check out a boat cruise. There's lots happening in Vancouver in the summer that draw in a variety of crowds. I wouldn't doubt that you could find a few good ones just through doing a google search.

Otherwise I would recommend Celebrities or the Commodore (depending on who's playing).
I am trying to remember if Celebrities is a gay club or not? About 7yrs ago, a girlfriend was into the dancing at a couple of Vancouver's gay bars, brought me along - I had a lot of fun, but not sure if its still the scene for me these days (not that there's anything wrong with that lol). Well LMGT... yah - been there, like the place for fun... hrm may be an option! I just hope I don't get hit on as agressively as I was on one visit years ago lol.

In NYC last year I went to an absolutely fantastic nightclub that had a "no under 30" policy (seemed to have a no douchebag policy too, as most of the guys there where what I'd call sophisticated gentlemen); The place was open till dawn, the music was good hard techno with a lot of harder europop. I know Vancouver's not anywhere near NYC, but one can dream :D :D

Barnone. Get table service right by the dance floor. So you can be the fat guy with money. The young hootchies love money.
