Discrete means "discreet"Oui -NON " ;)
En anglais, NON!

discreet = confidential or tactful; discrete = separate or distinct

"Discrète" in French = "discreet" in English, though.

Aren't you glad you asked? ;)

Many.........i say MANY of PERBs members 'first language' is not English.

Lets not jump down their throat with spelling errors. They're only trying to contribute to a discussion.

who gives a flying fuck? i'm a perfectionist who can't stand to see personal mistakes without correcting myself but until you see me in a classroom teaching five year olds that 'a' is for apple? i'm not going to come down on somebody for not having a borderline obsessive dedication to the english language. as long as a person gets their point across and i understand what they're getting at it makes no difference to me whether they have a degree in linguistics, took a minute to run their choice of words through dictionary.com or write like an elementary school drop-out, since it's what they feel and believe that matters.

Most of the language Nazis who nitpick what other people say or write usually have nothing better to do with their lives anyway.

I can understand a journalist or a column writter to correct grammar and spelling but I must agree you must have a lot of time on your hands to correct people.I do not mind it because I love to learn from my mistake...constructive critisism.....and that ok for me .....but I bet alot of people do not really care what other people think...... ;)

Just wanted to add my 2 cents to the subject. I am sure it would be very challenging to spell every word correctly, if your first language is not english. So I can understand spelling/grammar errors on those peoples' parts.

I also think that for some people english/grammar comes naturally or easily. I know that it does for me and I am thankful for that. I think that my voracious reading habits all through my childhood and until now have helped with that. Whenever I came across a word in a book that I didn't know the definition, I would look it up in the dictionary. Self teaching I suppose.

But to each his own. Carry on posting!! :D
