Wow! I'd just assumed he must have died years ago. You're right, Randy, Frankie was marvelous.

Basically two reasons, Rod. One, only old geezers like us actually remember Frankie. :) Two, the public in general are pinheads who are fed 24/7 info about members of the Cult of Celebrity like Anna Nicole Smith, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, etc. and somehow manage to convince themselves these idiots actually matter. That in turn creates a demand for even more info about these so-called celebrities and the cycle just keeps feeding itself over and over, ad nauseum. I have yet to crack open the thread on here about Anna Nicole Smith's death because her passing doesn't matter to me on any level and the comments of people on the subject of her death matter even less. But from a purely practical point of view, her death means one less waste of space depleting our precious oxygen supply.

Justaguy, you took the words righ out of my mouth. Of course I already knew that, I was trying to point out the irony of how people get all hung up on some idiotic 'celeb'? like Smith who has gone around making a lot of lives miserable.then someone like Laine who had more than 70 charted records, 21 gold records, and worldwide sales of over 250 million disks doesn't even get noticed.

It's a strange world we live in Mr. Jack.

To acknowledge him...

... would require some sort of interest in the past or music other than RAP crap.

No I don`t think your going to find much of an audience for Frankie here.

He`s not the latest "flash in the pan" or the latest cool thing or media sensation.

You see our society flourishes on sound bites & sensationalism because that`s all the simple mind can maintain an interest in.
Seriously, the average IQ is barely able to crack 100 depending on your demographic area. (between 90 & 100)
Read this:
"Persons of average IQ (between 90 and 100) are not competitive for most professional and executive-level work but are easily trained for the bulk of jobs in the American economy. By contrast, individuals in the top 5 percent of the adult population can essentially train themselves, and few occupations are beyond their reach mentally." - Reference click here

The members on THIS board??? - I`d say you should be content to even get close to that, with the exception of Miss Meiko, she will vehemently profess her superior cognitive abilities go here

But what you are disappointed about has to do with a condition for our society as a whole.

We aren’t supposed to say it but the large majority of the population here & especially in the less educated countries are like sheep.
But education is not the only factor, you see here we have a good education system but still pump out sheep by the millions. - (For an example go see this movie Josie and the Pussycats I find it poignant satire on the subject.)

Why is This???

Well for one thing politicians are WELL aware of this & I`ll let you assume how they use it to their advantage.
Clinton was a MASTER.

People in this day & age, as I have observed, seem to lack the ability to go forth with an original thought. The few exceptions are either labelled radical extremists or amazing visionaries, depending of course on how popular he or she is or the subject matter they are dealing with.

THINK ABOUT IT!!!!

Why do advertisers use celebrities to endorse or promote a product????
It`s NOT because they are believers (rarely some are) in the product or have such great knowledge of the product. - Most of these celebs are "Frikin idiots" go here 61 of our greatest morons

So, to surmise; if you want to get peoples attention on a subject you have to get the boys from South Park or the Simpson’s to include it in one of their episodes.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

I am sorry to hear about his passing. In tribute, here are the lyrics to a song he made famous:

That's My Desire

To spend one night with you
In our old rendezvous
And reminisce with you
That's my desire

To meet where gypsies play
Down in that dim cafe
And dance till break of day
That's my desire

We'll sip a little glass of wine
And I'll gaze into your eyes divine
I'll feel the touch of your lips
Pressing on mine

To hear you whisper low
Just when it's time to go
"Cheri, I love you so"
"You're my desire"

>instrumental interlude>

To hear you whisper low
Just when it's time to go
"Cheri, I love you so"
"You're my desire"

You're my desire

You nailed it, Mr. O. It's not an accident that the average attention span drops on an almost daily basis. The dumbing down of society is intentional and is being orchestrated by an unholy alliance of government, the media and the corporate world. A docile population, conditioned not to think about or question anything, is exactly what they desire. Sad to say but the premise of the movie "Idiocracy" isn't far removed from reality.
