Female hang glider tried to cling to pilot’s feet, fell 300 metres

Truly unfortunate and sad. Seems like someone really messed up here? Let's hope they found out what really happened here and prevent this from ever happening again.

sadly, hanging on was probably the wrong thing to do. i don't know at what point the equipment failed to hold her, but it sounds like she was never attached. if she had let go immediately she would have fallen, but probably a shorter distance and might have landed with only injuries. but by hanging on she delayed falling until the kite was way out over the edge so the fall was over a thousand feet

when i was skydiving a long time ago, a story was circulating about a guy in brasil who had a chute fail to open and it wouldn't cut away, so his reserve tangled with his main, causing him to fall about 1200 feet at full on velocity. however, he executed a proper landing roll when he hit and only broke his hips. that took presence of mind!

THIS GUY ... swallowed the on-board video ... and it took 6 hours for the body to be found ???

The guy is in custody so CSI will eventually be doing some data analysis on a digested SD card ....





According to media reports, court documents filed in Chilliwack, B.C. allege the 50-year-old from Burnaby gulped down the digital memory card that may contain evidence around how Lenami Godinez-Avila died.

The reports cite the sworn documents submitted by the RCMP and say the media card may have come from an onboard camera that contains video of the fatal flight.
