Why do some SPs located in Canada post their rates in U.S. $$$ ?
Do they think the avg. guy is too stupid to do the conversion and figure out that he's being overcharged? Or is it somethin else altogether?
Just wonderinnnnn...........

Because it is illegal in the states, hence, americans are coming up here by the truckload.

Many of us tour the U.S. as well.

Besides, getting that green stuff exchanged for real money (sic) is a pain, If Americans are too busy/lazy etc to obtain themselves a decent exchange rate at a bank or other institution, they should expect to pay a premium for the extra convenience. I wouldn't dream of trying purchase goods and services in the US with Canadian money and expect the same exchange rate I would get at a bank, if I can find a place who will take Canadian dollars at all.

True, but surprisingly there are motels in the northern part of Seatle that accept Canadian $ at better than bank rates.

Probably a few reasons....

If a lady does a lot of international travelling, and keeps her donation the same regardless of the country she is going to, then USD as an internationally recognized currency would be the way to go.

She may cater perdominantly to American clientele. About half of American gents will ask when making initial contact "Is that in USD?", so why not go with it. And of those who don't ask, many assume that it is in USD anyway, and transfer my deposit in USD (which does cause problems for those who prepay the entire amount, and do so in USD, because then I have to reimburse them the difference - since my donations are listed in CAD)

As long as you know her donation before booking an engagement, it really doesn't matter what currency she asks for. If you are okay with it, you will pay it, and if not, then move on.

I always pay in Canadian $, but it's sometimes difficult to make the exchange. In Canada, I don't necessarily know where to find the banks and the exchange places (which usually don't give favorable transactions. to boot), and I'm usually running late to my appointment.

On the US side, I go to my bank, but they sometimes have no Canadian$ on hand at all, or they don't have enough, and I've sometimes had to call three or four branches before finding one that can accommodate me.
Here in the US, the financial institutions are pretty provincial and really not geared to international currency exchange.
