Hi,
Looking for a little input!

I was looking at the Fairmont Pac Rim and was wondering if this hotel is SP friendly - or at least the staff mind their own business. A buddy of mine stayed there and said it was a great hotel and they also have some pretty nice suites.

Anyone have experiences with this hotel that they can share?

thanks

This hotel requires an elevator card, so you would need to meet in the lobby. I would suggest that you meet at a coffee shop or bar nearby, and then walk into the hotel together. It seems like some ladies have been questioned by staff at this hotel when they've been waiting by the elevator, even though they were dressed discretely.

That said, I have been on an outcall to this hotel, and didn't have any problems. My gentleman friend was waiting for me in the lobby when I arrived - that might help. A beautiful young lady hovering near the elevator, even when dressed discretely, might draw too much attention from the staff (at this hotel, anyway).

Not sure about the hotel, but the lounge there is certainly SP friendly.. I've spent many a night there playing "spot the escort"...

My mistake! I got these two mixed up.

I think they both require elevator key cards, though.

I'd also like to say the Pac-Rim men's room has very big, fully locking, full-door cubicles... Not that it has anything to do with SP's... but I've used these on some occasions when I'm on my a-game and find the right civilian-girl. LOL.

They have records of females who they've strongly suspected of being escorts on file, along with photos they've taken surreptitiously. In particular, any female who's hung around the lounge or lobby areas on more than one occasion and who has been seen with different men.

Really?

I understand no upscale establishment is going to risk letting anything unsavoury take root on their premises, but high-class escorts and wealthy businessmen are simply a part of the hotel business.

If any of our paid advertisers have ever been harassed at a local hotel, please chime in!

*EDIT*: Thanks, Vanesssa!

remember prostitution is not illegal and anything a guest is doing in their room is private. meeting in the lounge is also not illegal and no one has the right to ask you to leave for any reason, if they do and state that its because they suspect you are an escort, its a hate crime. threaten them with a human rights tribunal complaint ...trust me, they can do nothing to you in the hotel. if they say "its hotel policy" ask to see the manager and ask them exactly how far they have authorized their employees to go in this violation of your human rights. start demanding names, complaint numbers...they'll back the truck up.

does fairmont really want a big messy human rights complaint on their hands?

just walk in like you own the place. if someone asks you if you need assistance politly state no thankyou and continue. just remember to dress appropriatly- thigh highs may not be the best plan- and if the gentleman wants to meet in the bar, look for him there but if my client does not want to meet down in the lobby, i walk straight up to the desk and announce i am here to visit mr. so and so in room xxx. they call him in the room and then key me into the hotel or even sometimes give me a key which i return on the way out.

incidently, i have been in the penthouse of the Pacific Rim and damn.....3 purple venitian glass chandeliers, 4 fire places, 1 out side on the massive deck....just beautiful...i almost cried on my way out ...to see such wealth and splendor...really moving when contrasted with the work i do in the east end...whew...

A business has the right to ask anyone they want to leave the premise, it's actually quite easy. Having worked in a hotel, we knew who the escorts were, and generally didn't care. What we cared about were people who "looked the part" (because these are the people that unwitting families are going to recognize as "hookers", for the most part they aren't going to be able to pick out an upscale escort dressed smartly), and having them removed from the premises was very easily done based up a "dress code"

As for human rights.... You do realize a publicized case like that would actually garner them support. I'm all for prostitution, love it, but there are a large number of people against it, who would be willing to put their support (ie business) behind a hotel who's willing to go to court to keep prostitutes out of their hotel.

But like I said (and this probably applies to alot of hotels), it's not necessarily prostitution that we wanted to keep out, it was the image that it was occuring in our hotel which we wanted to keep out - there's a big difference between the two, like you said "thigh highs aren't the best idea"

It is private property, they can ask you to leave any time they want, especially if you are not a guest. They don't have to say why.

It's already been said, but it's not a human right to be allowed in a private place of business. They can pick and choose who comes in, stays, and gets kicked out. No reason needed.

so, if i don't like brown people, i can just ask them to leave...? you are missing the point....inside the city of vancouver, we would make a stink that would garner support for us...are you new here or something?lol

discrimination against an easily identifiable group is illegal. against the charter....

not trying to be rude men, just pointin out the facts. i won't comment again.

The Charter of Rights and Freedoms offers protection against discrimination perpetrated by the government of Canada.

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Section_Fifteen_of_the_Canadian_Charter_of_Rights_and_Freedoms

For protection against discrimination from other individuals or businesses in BC, you turn to the BC Human Rights Code.

See: http://www.ag.gov.bc.ca/human-rights-protection/

I read through the Human Rights Code website, and my understanding is that discrimination based on lawful employment is only a violation of human rights when it comes to tenancy issues. However, Susi might have more information than what I gathered from a quick 2 minute read-through of the site.

But to answer Miss Melody's question, you are right that racism is not illegal. A business can ask someone to leave for being "brown" or being a woman or being gay. However, that individual could then turn to the Human Rights Tribunal. I've read lots of stories of people discriminated against for being gay, or for belonging to a minority racial/ethnic group who successfully achieved justice as a result of utilizing the BC Human Rights Code.

Anytime someone was kicked out of our hotel it was for "looking the part". It's very easy to kick someone out for a dress code, especially when said code is left ambiguous stating "inappropriate".

Trying to equate it to racism, well it's self delusional. Family orientated hotels do not want certain stigmas attached to them. A court case (regardless of wether it's in your precious Vancouver or not), would actually garner that hotel the support they want and not harm them in the slightest. Whereas the opposite would occur if they say tossed out a middle easterner because he was brown.

Listen I like prostitution, I think it's a great idea. Alot of people DON'T, and if you go waving it in their face they're just going to cause a stink and it all becomes one big pissing match.

I agree that if an SP is dressed appropriately (for the hotel that is, not what she's going to be doing in the room) there isn't chance the hotel staff are going to say anything. I'm sure they have all kinds of people who do business with hotel guests on a regular basis, like real estate agents for one. I'm not so sure the hotel would be willing to risk the loss of this business. It's a whole different story in the case of someone hanging around the lobby obviously looking for some lonely traveller willing to part with a few hundred bucks. Lastly, I've never been in a "family" hotel with key card elevators, with perhaps the exception of the Delta at Sun Peaks.

Just my 2 cents worth!

So this hotel only exists in Canada?

LOL...yes quite the contrast/different worlds there, in a sense.

You would have to prove that it was due to you belonging to a protected group though. I doubt that would apply to people who are doing business there or engaging in some sort of systematic activity they didn't approve of. For example, if you were protesting about something, they could ask you to leave if they didn't like it. Not protected on private property. Likewise if you were a homeless person wandering the halls begging for money, or a busker who decided to set up shop in the lobby. Susi is wrong, if they don't like what you are doing, or think you are doing, and if you had no legitimate reason for being there, they could ask anyone to leave if they wanted to.

I have had a number of dates at the Pacific Rim and each were very enjoyable.

If possible, meet your date before checking in. Leave your car in front, grab your access card and then go park your vehicle. Walk up to the elevators like any other couple in the hotel. BTW, I have only done overnighters.
