Not on Facebook. Myspace is a little better for that. I think that more folks keep their profiles accessible/viewable on Myspace, whereas a Facebook profile is not viewable unless the user chooses to keep it open. Facebook seems to be more focused on keeping in touch with people you already know, and Myspace is all about getting your profile/identity exposed and meeting people.
I have a buddy who shagged about 5 or 6 ladies he met on Myspace. Haven't heard of anyone hooking up with anyone they didn't already know on Facebook.

I can't look at anybodies profile unless they are already on my friends list. Anybody else experience this?
Everyone else shares your restriction. Unless the "host" profile specifically keeps the profile open for viewing.
By default people's profiles are viewable if you belong to the same network as them. So if you aren't a member of any network, I don't think you can see any profiles unless they are your friends. So make sure you sign up for the Vancouver network or whatever. It seems about 75%+ people or so keep their profile open to the networks they belong to.
I can't personally imagine trying to meet someone through facebook I didn't know previously, though some people do mark the "dating" options and such, in which case they can't complain if you poke them or whatever. I do have to admit to being a card carrying facebook stalker though =). It's great fun trying to find people on there and find out a bit more about them.

LOL...So I have my facebook under my dancing stage name not Totally Touchable Tiffany Fox but alot of the girls on there have their stage names as dancer too.
