If you are like me you have probably invested in some sort of flat screen TV in the last few years so that you could get the best picture possible. There is nothing worse when watching a program than that annoying network logo on the screen. It amazes me how complacent we are and will just simply accept what we are fed.
If I put up my rabbit ears and watch the local CTV I probably could accept them putting their logo on the screen. After all I am getting the service for free. By the way for the sake of this discussion don't even get me started on the tax subsidies given to broadcasters especially the CBC.
When I watch a cable network, I am already paying for the service. What is even worse is when a channel like TSN rebroadcasts a US network program like hockey, and you end up with 2 of these annoying logos on your screen. By the way TSN, I don't need an Olympics logo on the screen everyday for 2 years before the actual event!
These logos add absolutely nothing to the viewing experience except for the self serving promotion of the network. Of course when the commercials come on the network logo disappears. The companys paying for the commercials would never accept network logos on their advertising. The networks however have no problem plastering the logo on the screen when we are trying to enjoy a show.
Its time to start some sort of Facebook protest to end these network logos. I say we conduct a rotating boycott of any product that advertises on a network that uses logos.
Vive la Revolution!
