If the CAF are to protect the public, why in god's name are they trying to mislead the public?
For something like this to happen, someone had to sign off on it or ok it.
Utimately is it Treason?
I remember hearing a story / controversy like this last year too. I think it was the "test" they put out with the wolves in NS story.
Maybe that was just the prequel to this more developed story now.
Chalk it up to:
1) Some of them love the "secret squirrel stuff", and cooked it up on their own initiative.
2) Someone probably told them (vaguely) to be more aware of information warfare / disinformation campaigns, show more readiness to fight such "hybrid warfare" campaigns, etc. (Even though militaries have been using / dealing with propaganda since forever.)
3) Someone probably predicted (rightly) that the COVID pandemic would result in a rise in extremism & public disturbances (not that anyone's called out the army to crush the anti-vaxxers).
4) Some military PR guy probably thought "people see us helping out in hospitals and such - great opportunity to buff the CF's image".
5) Some of the CF are hard-right guys who think of BLM and other similar groups as adversaries, or even the PM. (From Ezra Levant's mouth straight to their brain, I guess.)
Command (Gen. Vance, Gosselin, Eyre, at least) saw this and thought "the last thing we need is to give conspiracy nuts and anti-military people something that seems to justify their paranoia."
The idea lasted lasted than a month. But I bet it will be featured as a news article on Russia Today, LOL.
