"Your last chance to see Elton John perform live in Vancouver will be Oct. 21, 2022.

Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road: The Final Tour will hit Vancouver’s B.C. Place on Oct. 21, 2022, as part of a North American and European 30-date stadium tour.

The latest leg of John’s long goodbye trek will kick off May 27, 2022, in Frankfurt and wrap up with two final North American shows for two nights at L.A.’s Dodger Stadium on Nov. 19-20, commemorating his iconic performance at the historic venue in Oct. 1975.

Didn't he do one before? Is this like a "final final" tour? 600 a ticket I'm guessing?

I gave up on the big concerts some time ago, with all the bullshit around TicketscamMasters and related. Frankly venues like the Burnaby Blues Fest (hope it will come back) are much more of interest to me than dropping a grand to see a 'legend' doing yet another farewell show.

That seems to be the way it's done now - keep doing farewell tours and milking the fans. How many have the Stones done by now? Of course they don't call theirs farewell tours - the fans just assume, so maybe in their case it's on the fans. :)

Interestingly I heard today that Lynyrd Skynyrd, who were in the middle of a farewell tour when the pandemic hit, have had a rethink and are not calling it that any more. Their claim is that "if we can help people, we'll keep touring". I won't editorialize on that - I just found it was interesting. :)

300 - 5000 a ticket. I guess what else boomers and ex-hippies going to spend their retirement on...

Long ago when Sir Elton was playing in Vegas when I was healthy, I always wanted to see him live but tickets were quickly sold out.

Fast forward to the last few years, I began to hear about his farewell tour(s). I found some excerpts of his last tours on Youtube. I found them very boring and I fast forwarded through all of his songs only hearing a few seconds at most. To me, this pudgy man with an obvious toupee wasn't the same EJ from the 70s which I remember listening to. His voice has changed drastically (likely from his surgery in the 80s) and he seemed to have lost his showmanship. Worst of all, I got the impression he was having a real hard time to keep up while his band looked great, all things considered.

Later, I saw his interview on Anderson Cooper. EJ said he's [now] a business man. While we all know all performers are businessmen and businesswomen, he made no mention he was a performer. At least with someone like Mick Jagger, he seems never to age. Performers like Mick get into shape and prepare for their world tours. It doesn't seem this is the case with EJ.

Elton said Blue Moves would be his last album back in 78.
He’s been coasting since then.

In contrast the Rolling Stones have put on a fantastic show every time and respect their fans. Worth seeing even if you are not a big fan of them.

The last time I saw Elton was with Billy Joel early this millennium. I thought that was still a very good show (although I thought Billy Joel out-performed him), but I haven't seen him since.

The Stones are definitely top tier. Every show they give is incredible. In fact for me it's a toss-up between them and Roger Waters in terms of who puts on the best show money can buy.
