A company in China is developing Earthquake Beds to protect you while you sleep. The link I have is to a Russian YouTube.

You will rarely see buildings collapse like that in the developed world in an earthquake-prone zone. It is a little alarmist, although entirely possible and happens in China.
But, in most of the developed world with building codes in place to account for what might happen in an earthquake, this shouldn't be necessary.

There must be some sort of sensor. If it was like a mercury filled micro-switch that's in a Thermostat - there would be a real risk of being trapped inside - - with Emmy, with food and water, with cellphones outside in purses and pants pockets.
