I seem to recall that there are a few Doctor Who fans on this forum. According to this:

http://www.spacecast.com/shows/doctorwho.aspx

The latest of the David Tennant Doctor Who specials, Planet of the Dead, will be showing on SPACE on July 25th. Following that will be a repeat of the last Christmas special for those who may have missed it and are not downloaders. :D

Re-runs on CBC either Friday or Saturday nights 11:30pm :D

I have decided to get myself involved in "Taken", which turns out to not be a 2hr movie, but apparently a 10 part 2hr per episode mini-series

Awesome!

Thanks for the heads up. I saw most of the past couple seasons when they were showing them on CBC but I did miss a couple. A long time back YTV used to show the older Doctor Who shows --- is anyone showing them?

What I found interesting is that Torchwood season 4 is still in the air and season 3 was just a 5 part mini series but they constantly have a much bigger audience then Dr. Who and that show keeps getting renewed.

Thanks for the reminder. I was away and out of town for work for a few days and totally forgot.
Set up the reminders on the cable...so looking forward to the who-fest!

I got a bootleg of Planet of the Dead a few months ago.
The Next Dr was just whacky fun- loved the guessing game until half way through the episode.

VERY Good- some of the creepiest critters ever to show up in a DW ep.
It's also too bad Michelle Ryan isn't sticking around- a cat burglar companion would have been pretty cool.

There's a nasty foreshadow at the end about what's coming- wasn't really sure what to make of it- awaiting y'all's theories after you see it.

Somebody's coming back, not sure who though.

(Anybody else think Journey's End was the best DW ep ever??????)

That reminds me I haven't seen Children of Earth Part 5 yet.

See ya later :D

So does this mean no more Torchwood?

As of right now the 5 part series children of earth are the last of Torchwood, They say depending on how they go over they will make a decision but like I said they get a far bigger viewing audience then Dr. Who so its kinda confusing as to why they are saying that and why season 3 is only a 5 episode mini series.

But that's what i've read online so far

Sure looks that way doesn't it?

I read an Interview with former producer Julie Gardner earlier this week- the 5 part "event" had to do with the move from BBC3 to BBC1- no idea what the significance is but I'm guess 1 is the main (more prestigious) channel. (Or most widely circulated ala CBC?)

Torchwood's five-part third season, entitled Children of Earth, premiered on BBC One in July 2009, with an estimated 5.9 million viewers (the second highest rated program of the day) according to overnight figures [64]. Ratings for the second episode dropped to 5.58m [65], but rose to a high of 6.24m for the fourth episode [66]. According to the overnight figures, the mini-series garnered an average rating of 5.88 million viewers.

If it gets good ratings there'll be more. If not-they tied up everything with a nice little bow.
(What is it with Brits and bumping off major series characters- yikes! Spooks was the same- they were always bumping people off.)

I suspect Michelle Ryan will come back, perhaps with the next Dr. The match up was just too good to ignore.

I really enjoyed Planet of the Dead but the creatures reminded me a little of the creatures from Pitch Black.

If anyone missed it, a streaming version of it should be up on the SPACE web site for at least a few more days (I think they have the right to put it up on the web site for a week after the initial air date).

The new Doctor is too young. I can't see it. They are going to turn the Companion in to a relationship thing, that is a mistake.

It was always great when the Dr wanted to be with his companion, but knew he couldn't. Billie Piper's character was great that way, and I loved how they eventually got together, but this new Dr, I don't know.....

Under normal circumstances I would agree with you about the Dr being too young.
HOWEVER- Stephen Moffatt (the new producer) isn't an idiot- he's got a better story sense than Russell T Davies.

I'm dubious but I trust his judgment.

The Waters of Mars

According to the following on wikipedia here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Waters_of_Mars

"The Waters of Mars" is the second 2009 special of British science fiction television series Doctor Who, broadcast on BBC One on 15 November 2009. It will air on BBC America on 19 December 2009 and be released on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK on 11 January 2010 and in the US on 2 February 2010. According to Doctor Who writer and producer Russell T Davies, the special is closely linked to the next two episodes but is not the first part of a three-part story. The special was dedicated to Barry Letts, the former writer and producer of Doctor Who who died in October 2009.
No word on a possible broadcast date here in Canada yet. Any of you downloader types watched this one yet?

I remember that KVOS 12 used to have on Saturday nights starting at midnight Dr Who series and run it as a whole 5-6 hour episode. I also remember having Dr Who parties with a few friends, get silly and then try to stay awake throughout the night to watch the whole series. Anybody remember those days?
