Hi kiddies;
Just a note in which I shill shamelessly for the above-referenced gal. She sure doesn't need my humble efforts, BUT - I am hopelessly smitten, so ..........
The new disc (The Girl in the Other Room) takes a little getting used to for folks who think they "know" her style. She has written (herself or with hubby Elvis C) half the songs on the album - very personal stuff. Her writing is quite influenced by Joni Mitchell IMHO (and that's not a bad thing).
She covers a couple of smokin' tracks by others, too. Best one being "Love Me Like a Man - you PERBettes will love this tune! Not as grooving as Bonnie Raitt - but then she is in a whole 'nother league (Bonnie sings at "The Show" - in baseball parlance - Diana is STILL a minor league singer; but, obviously a major league piano player).
Give it a listen - or 10 or 20 !!!
