First thing i dont take that site very seriously. Have a couple of clown pics or a pic of a sesame street character earnie pic as my profile pic. Added this chick i barely knew to my buddy list. We hardly talk or post messages on fb and i thought oh what the hell i'll delete her off my buddy list. Wouldnt matter much anyways cause she's has my telephone number and we talk on the tele anyways. She calls me up and starts crying asking me why i deleted her off fb and i told her what i thought about facebook. Am i a asshole or deleting her? When i delete guy friends it's not a big deal.

Just get off facebook...it is a waste....the amount of time that people spend on that site is disgusting....playing "farmville" and other such crapulence.....updating their profile again and again...fuck it is just nuts....tis like an army of zombies....and the fucker that owns facebook is laughing his way to the bank.

I deleted my account a long time ago...do the same you wont regret it.

It may not be important to you (or to me) but some people are truly addicted. They are addicted to it and a great deal of their self-esteem is tied to their interaction with Facebook or Twitter or whatever other social network(s) they use. Its a mental quirk of some sort, but its real. You may dismiss Facebook as silliness for kids, but from her way over-the-top reaction I would say she is addicted to it. It feeds her self-worth and you have delivered her a grave insult.

Sound ridiculous? I totally agree with you. But, this woman obviously has a much deeper attachment to internet social networking than you do. To get along with her, you need to be a man here, and suck up your pride. Re-friend her and apologize. Tell her you don't go on Facebook much and that you weren't aware of how important it is. Don't make fun of her or blame her. This is like when your wife cries at a sad movie. Or a happy movie. You want to tell her she's a retard but you don't, because you know its just that women are different. So be a nice guy and make up to the little princess who cried because of some stupid little computer site.

My opinion, is why delete her, if you like her, even the littlest bit? I've never deleted anybody, but I've been deleted, by people I don't really talk to. I always find it funny, that they take it so seriously that they delete me, lol. I don't take facebook seriously at all, but it is a great net working tool.

Back in the dark ages, I had to rely on the phone to find out whats going on. Or the Georgia straight for my Dan Savage, concerts, events and gigs, etc. Now I get everything I need to know in my news feed, inbox, and invites. I will never be left out again, just because I didn't feel like talking on my phone. The more friends you have the more things you get invited to. Like art showings, poetry, etc.

I ignore all kisses, games, hugs, vampire fights, farmville, and mafia, lol. I'm just there to connect with old friends or new friends and find things to do.

By deleting someone, I think you take it too seriously :p

Some people spam trivial stuff incessantly, such as they are going shopping, they got back from work, they got new shoes, etc. As if their friends care about that. People like that are going to meet the delete key IMO, and if they want to know why (no has ever asked though) I tell them why. I don't see that someone feel guilty about that.

I agree with Harmony about the connections that one makes. Of course, there are time wasters like everywhere be it one to one interactions, phone conversations, or junk mail.

As far as the addiction factor be it facebook, myspace, perb or reading bathroom walls it is individual choice.

I guess you're unaware of the hide this persons news feed button? :p Of course, though I would never hide Otep. I love her to pieces.

In today's technology, there is no need to hurt anyone's feeling, lol. I have around 300 "friends" on facebook. About 200 are hidden from my news feed, cause yah, that is annoying. Especially when they're doing farmville and its showing up so and so purchased a calf and needs your help getting it milk, or whatever. Block, [not the person, just farmville] with an evil cackle. lol One of my facebook friends has almost 5000 "friends" I'm sure she probably has 4050 of them hidden, lol

Everytime I see a new application post post to my wall, I block that application. When a "friend" posts too much garbage EVERY day, I hide their updates from my wall. Now I have a nice, clean wall and an easy way to share with friends and family (all at once) pics and updates on my life, as well as see their pics & updates. No fodder, no drama. Make your tools work for you, dont work for your tools.

Please note that hiding posts from showing up on your wall is different than removing them as friends. They can still visit my profil, I can still visit theirs. They dont even know I dont see their updates regularly. Everyone's happy :)
Exactly. What you don't know, doesn't hurt ya.

I'm sure tons of my friends have my news feed hidden, because I'm always posting funny or music youtube videos. I'm probably really annoying, lol I remember one time I clicked like on some kind of spam thing, that said I'm awesome about a zillion times. It filled up my whole screen and then some. I'm sure everybody hid me from their news feed that day, lol. I think I even lost 5 friends that day. Oh well.

People react differently to being "defriended" I was seeing an young woman a few years ago..(who I recently started seeing again over the last few months) and I was on her facebook account for about a year.

Then we got in an argument and she defriended me. Now I had a special account created with a fictuous name, but I was quite pissed off, and hurt at the time. And the one thing I've never done since I started seeing her again was to ask to be added on her facebook account again.

And in a completely unrelated issue I did have an SP who I'd never seen, but obviously had contacted, ask to join my real facebook account, (which I hardly ever use) but I was very surprised by that considering that would be about the last thing I would need, is to let all my friends and family know I see SP's..lol So needless to say, I declined her invitation.
