this happened to me once. we just kept right on walking by. she played it just right but it made me think I might have been walking with the wrong one.
I should have said " honey, I'd like you to meet the lady that does what you won't do for a fraction of the cost of your monthly Visa bill."

In all seriousness, unless both of you (the pooner and SP that is) have previously expressly discussed this and agreed it was okay if you were to meet in public, the simple answer is for both parties to act as if they've never met.
Of course, if you are so good looking and well-dressed that every woman you ever meet immediately makes a pass at you then your girl-friend or wife might become suspicious if the SP is the only woman in the area who doesn't immediately acknowledge that you exist and throws herself at you. In that case you always mutter something about "must be a lesbian" and then ignore the SP to deflect the suspicion.
And I really hope a former client sees this and takes it to heart. I wish he would please stop running around the grocery store like a little bitch, trying to hide from me. It creeps me out.
WTF does he think I am going to do? Stand in the middle of the produce section, point at him and bellow "Dude! I haven't seen you since the last time you paid me for s*x, how's it going? Still a big fan of dining at the Y?"

Stickdoctor, I think what dirkdog means is that I am about as keen on *our* neighbours finding out that I am selling as he is on them finding out he is buying. So, this former client has nothing to fear and needs to get over himself.
