Just a heads up to both pooners and SPs!

There have been a number of counterfeit bills circulating among this hobby these past few weeks.

Keep a close eye out for old 70s style 100 and 20 dollar bills. They are very easy to fake and a lot are so carefully produced they pass the UV test and have a raised relief pattern. Do the water test, dip a small corner of the bill in water. The ink should NOT run.

A friend has been a victim but luckily it was only $100.

SPs: If you receive any of these bills try to reason with the client. The excuse the client has been using was that "the ATM gave me this, I had no idea!" BULLSHIT. Machines usually dispense 20s and not old 100 bills! Also PM me to get the name of the client. This hasn't been the only time this guy has passed off counterfeit bills.

Depending on the bank machine you use....you may be able to get $50 bills as well. CIBC machines dispense 50's. I have seen on occasion old style 20's. I know of no Canadian banks dispensing $100 bills. If you want those you have to go to a teller.

all banks don't pass the older $100 though. And all bank machine has a counterfiet detector on it so it is basically next to impossible to get a counterfiet from a atm.

Any atm machine can be set up to dispense a variety of denominations. It depends on the branch preferences and/or requirements

We used to use the 20's and 50's at one branch, 20's only at another 3 blocks away.

I do know that there some machines in Toronto that gave 50's only as well as 100's and 20's.

Some had two or three machines with with different mixes of bills, 20's, 20's and 50's and 20's and 100's, BUT they actually had signage as to the mixes in each machine.

That is not true at all. There is no counterfeit detector in ATMs

Sorry...Independent ATMs don't but all Financial institution ATMs do. I had been working with those machines for the last 5 years and it has detected every single note we had tested with.
