Just wanted to express my extreme joy with the State of New York for becoming the 6th state to legalize gay marriage :)

I have gay, lesbian, and bisexual friends, and this news means a lot more to them, I'm sure.

I also wanted to share this cool photo of Lady Justice and Lady Liberty (how fitting!):

Made possible by the votes of those 4 Republicans who went beyond partylines and supported the Democrats. They might be marked in the next elections or might not get re-elected but kudos to them for having the balls to vote for what they truly believe in despite belonging to a political party with a very strong right-wing base. :thumb:

Still lost in the '60s
I'm very happy for New York, but I feel a bit guilty for eavesdropping on Liberty and Justice during their kinky blindfold and sword roleplay. And I never realized scales were sex toys. Oh, those creative New Yorkers!

The NY Senate already passed the MMA months back, UFC will finally be at the MSG in the near term. The UFC is projected to bring in revenues amounting to US$ 23 Million to NYC annually. Of course, legalizing same sex marriage in NY is top priority as 2012 is just down the road and the gay and lesbian votes, which is being courted by Obama, can make a difference. :) :)

You're not quite right here. The Senate has passed MMA, but the Senate has always supported MMA now and previously. The roadblock is getting the bill passed through the New York State Assembly. It is here where previously the bill got struck done and where there is much opposition still today. It appears that the bill wasn't even presented to the last session which ended June 20th - and it may have even been delayed by design by the opponents of such a bill such as the Speaker Sheldon Silver

We think our politics are funny here in BC...how things get done in NY can only make your head shake.

Congratulations New York!

For recognizing that a 2,000 year old fairy tale has no relevance to personal freedom!

Sheldon Silver is the most powerful guy in New York. He is protected by the most powerful and connected law firms or what you can call power brokers. If the UFC/Fertittas wants to make the 3rd time a charm ( been rejected by the Assembly 2x ) then they should hire one of those law firms to do the lobbying for them. :)

Reminds me of LA where Magic Johnson is one of the most connected guys in the City of Angels. If you want something done you have to get to know Magic. Actually, in some areas you actually have to pass through him. He's part of the lobby group trying to build a new football stadium in Downtown LA besides Staples and of course trying to bring back an NFL team to the city. Magic looks confident, he already sold his 10% stake in the LA Lakers and all his Starbucks locations for this NFL venture. :) :)

Looks like NY Governor Andrew Cuomo is the hottest ticket on the Democrats side for 2016. The recently elected Governor is so damn popular right now that Obama might even dumped the aging VP Biden for Cuomo instead. Personally, I think those NY Republicans who voted with the Democrats on this bill were merely investing on their relationship with Cuomo who will go places. :) :)

The US 9th Circuit Court of Appeals voids the California Ban on Gay Marriage this morning. Now its going to the Supreme Court. Some of the biggest backers of Prop 8 is the Mormon Church. This is gonna be a big election issue as the timing in the Supreme Court comes as the Presidential Campaign heats up. Let's see how Romney and his campaign strategists will approach this. On the other hand, Obama is feeling as if he just won the Superbowl.

When New Jersey Governor Christie vetoed same sex marriage in his State a week ago that probably guarantees him to become the VP of GOP Presidential candidate Romney. Such a blockbuster combination, surely reminds me of Blockbuster Video. :D Obama never had it so good. :) :)
