Health Nurse - Are you aware of any STI that involves a thick coating on my tongue and irritated throat?

A few weeks after performing cunnilingus on an SP from Mainland China, I developed a coated tongue and dry mouth/throat. My doctor assumed it was thrush and a full course of liquid Nystatin was taken, with no improvement of the condition.

This was a couple of YEARS ago and it still persists. I have had every blood and urine test and throat swab going - every test comes back negative. I have have two more rounds of Nystatin, hystamine mouth washes, cleanses, Chinese herbs, acupuncture, oxygen therapy, seen orla pathologists, dentists, etc etc etc. Nothing has helped.

At the same time I also developed nocturia, with a dull pain in my back and hips. Only present at night. Any chance these issues are connected?

Otherwise I am completely healthy and feel fine.

Given some of the things stated by mdwanabe, is it possible I have some STI that has so far gone undetected? Is there some type of different testing I should ask for?

Hi Cock Throppled

What you describe does not sound like the symptoms of the common STI we deal with. I also assume that you would have been tested for the common STI as well as HIV.

When you mentioned the “thrush” type coating on the tongue and the nocturia, the first thing that came to my mind was diabetes. It sounds like you have had a large number of tests and I would be very surprised if they did not test for this.

It can be very frustrating when you are trying to work out a medical condition. Medicine has come a long way in the last 50 years but it has a long way to go. There are still many things that are not known.

It certainly sounds like you have explored many different strategies.

When I see clients with unresolved health issues I always recommend that they get a second opinion from another doctor. I also encourage them to get their doctor to refer them to a specialist if they are unable to help.

For some people it may also help to explore some of the alternate medical practices out there for example a naturopathic physician. Have a look at the link for more information.

Just be careful who you see. Some people are not licensed and their therapies can be dangerous. There are a number of different health professions who are regulated in BC. Have a look at the link for more information.

I hope that you find something that works.
