i started off with a home phone bundle that was reasonable and now is very expensive ... i was thinking of just cancelling home phone service and go with shaw internet (have cable anyways) and just use cell phone for the rest:

1. need to save messages
2. need to make some long distance calls within BC -- about 250 minutes per MONTH.

3. (this is way less important than the other two above) can a cell phone be used with a laptop for internet access and how is that done? (and is it worth the expense?)

any suggestions on providers and plans and rough costs???

thanks

Hi LG,

You can get a wireless card from your phone company but it is slow. If your computer has an Infrared port, you can get phones with Infrared transmission and use that as your modem. Again it's slow.

I wouldn't recommend either one unless you intend on going out of your ISP range a lot.
