Cell Phone 101

Some people I know need to take this class. Let me start the topics off that will be covered. Feel free to add on.

ps: this does not apply to SP's since I never call any anyways,

1: when the phone rings you answer it!!

2: a sure way to piss people calling you off is to let them phone once or twice because they want/need to get a hold of you and by the 3rd try you turn your phone off.

3: when I phone and you say "i'll phone you right back i'm kinda busy at the second" WTF does "right back mean" well to me it means 5, 10 maybe 15 min. Not two hrs later and I have to end up phoning you.

4: When you phone me from a bar/club at 2am and I'm in bed and its dead quit in my room but I have to yell for you to hear me.

5: What is the fucking point of me leaving a message if you don't phone me back!!

6: the person who always seems to have a "low" battery!!

I'm sure there are tons more, but these really chap my ass.

I’m a customer – I’m in your place of business and we’re talking. Your phone rings and you answer it --- and proceed to ignore the hell out of me. Minutes go by and I’m beginning to steam, cause I’m hearing every word of what’s being said and it’s someone calling with the same objective as me --- excuse me, hey, I’m over here – I took the trouble to actually come in and see you personally.

If you answer that call, take a number and say you’ll return the call --- don’t give me the impression you care more about that call, that other person, than you do me.

Amen on this one. This really pisses me off too.

Why is it when the phone rings the person on the other end gets precedent over the person who is standing right there? I think thats really rude.

I don't believe in answering the phone just because it rings. I have a answering machine message that tells the caller, i am unavailable, to leave a message, and i will call back. "AND I DO CALL BACK." I do this because of my comments above.

Heres scenerio that pisses me off.

Person (A) phones person (B).
Person (B) answers and says 'hello'
Person (A) says 'hello' and then says "NOTHING".......that leaves person (B) to ask person (A) the nature of there call.

Don't just quit speaking. You called me you should know what you want to speak to me about. --- Kev

Sounds like hitrack is talking about me .. I never go near my phone.. sorry.. maybe if I turned the ringer on more often, I'd remember to answer it. Heh, I'm weird.

I hearya ... I think

1) I can't always answer the phone (see 6), kind of use it as a pager now.

2) see 1)

3) Finding a pay phone is not an easy task and there's usually a couple of scruffy guys/gals using it or just standing by the pay phone.

4) Sorry dude, but ya said to call if I got drunk ...

5) What answering machine? Is that what the little red button ...

6) My battery is almost dead so I'm always on low battery. Always short on funds so I don't buy a new battery. Can't imagine why?

Chapstick works but you might need a couple of sticks - don't know how big your a__ is.

I wasn't speaking about an SPs in my observation. I have found SP for the most part to have good phone etiquette. --- Kev

What Pisses Me Off

Very high on my personal WPMO quotient:

1. You're at the movies and a person nearby has forgotten to turn off their cell phone...they get a call.. do they hurriedly turn it off in embarassment...No! They go ahead and have a five minute conversation...ARGHHH!

2. You get a call on your cell, excuse yourself and find a quiet corner to take the call. Along comes some loudmouth with a booming voice, stands right next to you talking on his cell at max volume... Jackass!
