From what I've read (and seen), I would venture to say that 99.9% of the MP's out there are owned by women. I'm "assuming" that it's much easier for a woman to own such a business because she can work it and "manage it" at the same time.

I was thinking....could a man own such a business. I'm thinking 100% legit.

(In Edmonton, we've had one recent court case where the guy had a couple of MP's, but was getting the women to come in through his driving school, and then picked them up from there, etc., to work in the mp).

Could a man invest in such a business without the hassle of the police busting you for living off the avails of prostitution? (Curious, how do the women owners of MP's get away without the hassle of being charged with this offense?)

The #1 rule of business is to invest in a business that you the best, and I'm sure that most men here who spend $$$'s, etc in a mp on a regular basis can attest to picking a good lady, etc, to know a nice mp from a dumpy one, etc. They would have the basics of knowing a good operation from a bad one.

Can any of the ladies say if they know of any men running a mp. In this economy, a person want's to invest in a business that they know will have a chance of doing well....so what about a MP?

Appreciate any feedback.

thanks.

I'm thinking of a total legit business.

If women can do it, why can't a man? Can a man be a silent partner...provide the financial backing, receive the profits, and have it run above board?

By definition, a MP of the type frequented by the members of this board cannot be totally legit. It would be a common bawdy house, and thus not a legitimate business in Canada under the current criminal code. Now, as for licensed MPs in Edmonton, I think that King's court was still run by a man as of a couple of months ago. The driving instructor's problems weren't with owning the MP, it was indiscretely recruiting non-SPs into the business which is procuring under the criminal code.

It would likely be tough to openly break into the MP business as a man, even in Edmonton. The unspoken reason why MPs are licesed & allowed to operate in E-town is to offer a safer place for SPs to work, given the large number of SW's that have been killed / disappeared over the years there. As female owners / managers tend to also work as SP's they are some of the people the powers that be wish to protect and keep off the streets by minimizing enforcement. A male owner / manager does not have that same status and thus has to tread a very narrow & strict path as none of the powers that be are trying to keep him off the streets. The male MP owner will have a hard time getting LE to think of him as other than a pimp, whether that is fair or not.
Thanks for the enlightment....you brought up a few points that I didn't think of that were outside the realm of regular law.

I was just curious if such a business could be run by a man and I guess not for the reasons that you mention above.
