Huh? You can pay for the room in cash. They might swipe your card for the damage deposit but that doesn't show up on your credit card statement. If your really paranoid you can tell the hotel that you will pay the damage deposit in cash also.

Book the hotel with your CC and settle up in cash. All hotels accept cash

They just want your CC just in case you decide to do a Joe Walsh imitation and destroy their room.

I know this thread is outdated and the OP likely gone....

But my parents travel all over the continent and use bed and breakfasts.
Many of them are CASH ONLY. I guess to avoid taxes or whatever.

Stay away from that place.

The holiday inn, comfort inn, & the burrard are all fairly nice places that take cash deposit.
Those are my go-tos.

Wait, do these still exist? I thought the Tsawwassen/Swartz Bay route had abolished them years ago. Admittedly I haven't checked recently but the last time I asked while onboard, the BC Ferries employee told me they no longer had any staterooms and I can find no mention of them on their website. I would be very interested to know. I used to love getting a stateroom.

Close enough. At the least you could use them to do an online booking with Expedia or the like. Prepaids can be associated with any billing address you like. I regularly book hotels with Expedia and aside from imprinting my normal card in case there are incidentals, they don't need anything else and that imprint never gets charged unless you use the minibar or room service or pay per view or the like.

Incidentally if you want to buy stuff from the US iTunes Store you can use a Canadian prepaid card from 7 Eleven or the like and give it a US billing address.
