Random question, and I apologize in advance if it breaks any forum rules.

Does anyone here donate blood? A lot of the qualifying questions for a donation are about sexual activity. The Canadian Blood Foundation is right to be concerned as health is serious business; however a lot of the questions are fairly old fashioned (do you know the sexual history of all former partners) or something to that effect. After donation your blood is tested before being used and you are notified if there are any diseases found.

Anyone fibbed, or gave up donating because of their hobby?

I’m not allowed, for multiple reasons:
1. My job
2. Sleeping with men who sleep with men
3. I was in England during the mad cow scare

it’s stupid and prejudiced because they test the blood. Sometimes I consider lying for sure.

The testing is a relief in any case. Saving lives woohoo. I find the donation is a good little health check - iron levels, blood pressure.

There used to be an option where they leave the room and you get to decide if you think your blood is a risk and attach the corresponding sticker to your form. I thought that was a good way for someone to save face and go through it without being judged.

I can't give blood because I have low iron, and more importantly a rare neuro disorder leading to me being on a mixture of drugs. You can't catch the disorder but the drugs are somewhat bad for the liver. I asked and my doctor also that it also wasn't worth giving my organs. So I guess I have an easy excuse. I used to give blood when I was younger.
