Are there any baseball fans out here?

With a couple months left in the baseball season, why don't I start this thread off with some questions...

Who do u like to win the AL?
(I like the Red Sox - fuck the Yankees)
Who do u like to win the NL?
(I'll go for the Cardinals)
Who do u like to win it all?
(I like Boston, but i think St. Louis is gonna win)

Been a Yankees fan all my life so I alway cheer for the Yankees, but with that being said, it is nice to see another team win from time to time. If the Cards win, then great for Larry Walker. I am still bummed at the Cubs futility from last year. Whoever makes the playoffs, it should be great, just like the last few years.

Even though the Red Sox will probably face NYY again this playoff and again in the wildcard position and again don't have home court, but I still like them to beat the Yanks!!

I still think Boston has a better pitching staff.
Too bad they didn't get Randy Johnson.
Feel sorry for that guy stuck in Arizona.

Let's go Mets!!! You gotta believe it... Ok, maybe I'll say that in a couple more years.. When are they ever gonna stay clear from Yankee's shadow?

After Mattingly.

Let's go Mets!!! You gotta believe it...
The Mets missed their window of opportunity when they had the starting lineup of Gooden, Cone, Darling, etc. Only won one series.
Even the Braves missed their window of opportunity with Glavine, Maddox, Smoltz, etc. Only won one series.

The current version of the Yankees at least didn't screw things up royally and won about three series.
Curious that all the new players (and championship era) arrived the year that Don Mattingly retired. Played his entire career in New York without even making the playoffs. Back then it was harder with only pennant winners making it to the playoffs.

It is too bad that the Dodgers can't contend, otherwise it would be like during the Reggie Jackson / Steve Garvey era. A fan and network's dream of East Coast vs West Coast.

St. Louis Cardinals

The St. Louis Cardinals will win the World Series, Albert Pujols is the best player in the world right now, and this teams pitching is on fire, I'm picking the St. Louis Cardinals to defeat the Texas Rangers in 5 games to win the World Series.

Ironshaft: The Mets will miss the playoffs once again this year so forget about them beating the Yanks.

Manhattan: Your right, the Mets will probably never stay clear of your favorite team's shadow. But the Red Sox will overshadow the Yanks sooner than later!

Godzilla: Yeah, the Dodgers made a bad trade giving away Lo Duca & Encarnacion for Brad Penny & Hee Seop Choi. Don't like their chances but they just keep on winning so thats OK.

Scott: U got it! Cards to win World Series in 7 games at home against the Yanks not the Rangers because they'll miss the playoffs. They'll not win the wildcard, Boston will. and they'll not win the ALWest because of Oakland.

(How can Mark Mulder lost to a rookie at home on Friday against the Royals....lost a lot of money on that game.....F**K.....can't go pooning this weekend)

UBC physics!

Well there goes Canada's chance for an Olympics baseball medal. But at least Vancouver's Jeff Francis seems to be knocking on the door for a major league callup to the hitter friendly Denver baseball stadium.

Very commendable that he has a great brain, UBC honors physics graduate, to go along with his great arm.

u know what. I think Canada will still win a medal, possibly even a gold. Their opponents are all pretty weak except for maybe Japan & Cuba.

The Rockies should release Francis to play in the Olympics. They are not gonna make the playoffs; no point of rushing him into the majors. They just don't want to risk him getting injured. Hope he doesn't get knocked around in the hitter-friendly Coors Field and then lose confidence.

MLB should take an olympic break just like what the NHL does so players can choose to play for their country.

Jeff Francis will make his Major League debut for the Rockies at Turner field against Atlanta on Aug. 25 Wed. 4:00 pst.
He'll most likely go up against John Thomson of the Braves instead of Russ Ortiz so I guess that's a good thing. Too bad this game is not on TV.

I still don't like the Rockies' decision to keep him from the Olympics though.
Anyway, hopefully he gets the win!
