...I grabbed some fast food for lunch in a shopping mall today. I sat next to a father with his little daughter, about three years old, I would say. This jackass was wearing a T-shirt that said "I may not be Mr. Right, but I'll keep fucking you till he shows up".

Now, I have nothing but contempt anyway for people who wear clothing printed with words like "fuck" and the like in public. They strike me as pathetic attention whores. However, wearing that shirt in the presence of a small child, whether or not the child is your own, is a double no-no, IMO. What's going to happen when she's old enough to read? What's he going to say when she asks him, "Daddy, why are you wearing a shirt with a bad word on it?" I'd love to hear his explanation, not to mention his explanation of the entire message.

If you were obviously there acting as a caregiver of a young child I would be probably be thinking about knocking your head off. Simple theory I have - as an individual you do not need to answer to anyone as long as you arent hurting anyone. As a caregiver you have broader responsibilities and duties to whoever you are caring for...

I'm definitely not a caregiver! I would really suck at that, that's for sure. Nor do I work with children or even teens (thank God).

But despite what people may think, and I would guess they think I am low, think about this: the internet has now made porn an everyday occurrence. Approximately 50% of the total worldwide bandwidth is devoted to porn. I was once on a relative's computer (she was 12), checking my email, when I found all kinds of porn sites she had been visiting. I was shocked, but as I got to know more young people I realized that for them it is par for the course. These days you even have high school boys trying to get into massage shops and calling escorts. When I was in high school, I would have never ever considered it and only thought that really bad people paid for sex. Now teenagers talk casually about blow jobs and anal sex.

When I travelled in Europe, I rented a car and drove through Spain and France. At one gas station I recall going up to the counter to pay. It seemed to be a family owned station as grandma took my money while dad arranged the items on the shelves. Behind the counter in plain view, without big circles to block anything out, was a hardcore porn magazine. On the cover was some guy getting a blow job. As I paid for the petrol a young boy came from behind a door to talk to his grandma, walking right past the magazines which were at adult-knee height. Then followed his little sister.

It seems there are different standards about what is tolerable around the world. From what I could see, neither the Spaniards nor the French have any more of a fucked up society than we do in North America. So what is the harm?

'FCUK' T-Shirt

A long time ago I wore a 'FCUK' tshirt (stands for French Connection, United
Kingdom). It's a clothing chain first started in Europe. I thought it looked
pretty harmless & figure people would be smart enough to know it's not
that offensive 4-letter word. WRONG!

A bank teller gave me a look (and no, she was not smiling). A jerk followed
me around for nearly a block to harrass me. I got a lot of stares from
people who noticed my t-shirt. Mind you, it was a fairly loosely fitted shirt
so my girls on displayed was not the issue here.

I even got a lecture from a mature lady I worked with. She told me I
shouldn't be wearing this t-shirt around children! Oh, give me a break.
It sat in my closet for a while until I decided to donate it. Was too scared
to ever wear it again!

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear. It was on the looser side but not that
loose fitting. Comfortable fitting enough so it wasn't snug & you don't see
the outline of my girls, this is what I meant.

Another time I wore an even more controversial t-shirt. It was an image of Albert Einstein's profile with the caption: "What's on a Man's Mind". Where his head is, it looks like a mass of
his crazy hair but if you look again, you also see a naked lady! I thought it was very clever.
Got this t-shirt from a t-shirt shop in NYC. These days, I'm more into "classic" tops.
