Are all deposits scams?

Are all deposits scams? I did a search on deposit here and consensus seemed like most were scammy.

Local indy ad 9555 is a real person, reached out and traded video snaps on her snapchat but she insisted on a 50% deposit giving imo the typical lame reasons. Despite verifying my identity to her via video snap and being only 10 minutes away from her location, she demanded a 50% deposit. I ofc didn't and feel like a dodged a bullet.

What are your thoughts and experience?

Deposits are generally safe if it’s a reputable SP with multiple good reviews. But some rando on leolist asking for a deposit definitely avoid.
