I've been tossing around the idea of booking a provider and since I know every single fucking indie provider in the city and feel weird about booking someone I know, I'm leaning more towards agencies. What are they like? Are there brothels? Do they work out of houses? What is the screening like? Favourite/reputable agencies? Pros and cons to agencies over Indies? I feel totally in the dark and under-educated about the agency scene.

There are a lot of reasons girls and clients use agencies.
1) Call center. Immediate response and professional booking. When you're off, you're off... No more dick pics... Let the call center deal with everything for you, even when you're off. Without this, escorting is typically a full time job that never switches off.
2) Reputation. The agency has approved the girl based on their standards, so it can be less of a risk if those standards match the clients, and they can help protect the girls reputation also, like being active on perb.
3) Safety. Agencies have enormous naughty and nice lists (it's not uncommon to have 50k+ clients), and can have additional security procedures, like check-ins with the call center (client in, client gone, etc) and spare keys with nearby people to check in and make sure everything is alright... a girl on her own would have no idea that a prospective client has been blacklisted by half the city. And this doubles for the client also... He knows that the girl is vetted by the agency and there is nothing to worry about.. a consistent experience and overall can be a lower risk adventure than a random LL ad.
4) Money. Agencies simply have more clients and volume. Despite the costs associated with agencies, the net income can be much much higher due to the increased volume. We don't take percentages but I believe a lot of typical western agencies operate differently that way.
5) Support/Convenience. Anything you need, they can be there for you. You're not in it alone. Need a new incall, no problem.. here you go. Need something picked up or a store run because you're busy... No problem dear. Prefer to work from home? Absolutely. For clients.. one place to call for a short notice rendezvous and get some options on which girls are available right now, easy.
In regards to what it's like.. for us the client experience is very private. It's a private meeting in an apartment. The girls set their own schedules.. work or not work whenever they want, and operate as independent affiliates under our banner.
I can't speak for all agencies. But the above 5 are reasons girls and clients work with us. At the end of the day, everyone has to decide what is best for them... girls and clients both.
