As near as I can make out the rhetoric coming out of the White House matches the rhetoric the factions of Islam have been spewing at each other for decades.

I'm old enough to remember the days when American governments condemned "radical islamists" for things like public executions.
Public execution has been part of Islamic ideology for a very long time. Saudi Arabia ended public executions in 2019. At its peak, hundreds of people were publicly executed in Saudi Arabia every year. American government criticism of these has always been selective. You rarely heard American governments say anything about Saudi public executions.
Public executions on religious ideology is terrible enough. But this American government wants to do this for political reasons, to rile up its base and stoke more division and anger in the population. And while the divided population fights over stupid things, Trump and cronies and the billionaires rob them blind. That is another level of evil beyond ideology.
Looks like every one's favorite Democrat Ilhan Omar is in a bit of hot water. I was not expecting the Feds to go thru with what happened this week. Everything democrats do get swept under the rugn till this week. Look at the subpeonas the LA Mayor Karen Bass and Omar has been subjected to earlier this year. They simply ignore it. I was expecting the Feds to just let everything Ilhan Omar is accused of to simply be let go. They have an automatic get out of jail card to play.

I've always been pessimistic, but it becomes more clear to me ever day. If republicans lose the house and/or senate the claims of fraudulent voting will be deafening. The norms of a orderly transition and seating of new congresspeople will go out the window. And with the Supreme court controlled by a corrupt majority the resulting constitutional crisis will make the Jan 6 Capitol hill fiasco look like a kids picnic.
Even before Trump 1.0, Americans have been putting their thumbs on Canadians. I am glad at last the PM is fighting back. It's about time.

I just got back from Europe and I can tell you this. They fucking hate Americans there, not bcoz of trump but bcoz they put him there and they ain't doing anything about it. I was at Dachau with my SO and overheard a German tour guide telling a group of Koreans tourist that if Americans don't wake up, they may soon end up like Nazi Germany. A little bit of an exaggeration but that's how they feel.
