Recently I was listening to an interview on the radio (remember radio?) and they were discussing telephone scams/phising. Of course they were discussing how people inadvertently supply information for various accounts. They were also talking about clicking on legit looking links (accounts.telus.com instead of telus.com/accounts) or even pushing any of the number buttons (1 for yes 2 for no usually results in the same scam result). Most of this is pretty basic for most of us in dealing with this crap.
Now, usually I don't answer if I don't recognize the number; however something they mentioned caught my ear (radio, remember?) They can take a recording of your voice if you have used it to ask people to leave a message, clone it wit AI and use it to access your accounts if you have voice recognition enabled on any of them. Credit card companies are using voice recognition more and more now (true they need to find out your account info etc.).
With that being said, I have recently used an online text-to-speech site to record a new greeting and have taken my voice out of my voicemail.
Maybe a little over the top, but I don't see things in the scam world improving for potential victims anytime soon.
Just sharing some info that may be helpful
