This whole notion of expected boycotting by athletes and teams in a split nation seems petty. What, are all hockey players supposed to be liberal?

The part about congratulating the US team was pretty up-beat. H-buck acknowledged for a huge part in the win, and received highest civilian award. Actually seemed like a bit of a break from the usual shit show.

Oh, and the tortured looks on those Minnesota dem-ented fraud supporters was priceless!

Rural Minnestans and farmers cheered while outraged urban politicos spilled their latte. So what. I got no fuks left to give. Lol.

The Hughes bro’s will do just fine. Whatever political leanings they may have is their choice. Celebrating a USA team win ought to be bi-partisan. Politicising it otherwise is Petty. and I don’t mean Tom (RIp).

I agree that it shouldn’t be political, but in the world of Trump everything is political. These guys are being used as political pawns and their agents/advisors should have warned them.

Yesterday The White House put out fake AI generated content putting words into Brady K’s mouth and caused him a fair amount of grief. And they are using the team’s appearance with trump for some very nasty political games.

All I’m saying is if you decide it's a good idea to shake hands with the devil don’t be surprised when you get your fingers burned.

If this was the first time a hockey time was invited, different situation. But it wasn’t. It is a tradition. An American tradition.

It seems the liberals / Trump haters are the one’s politicizing it. Disrespecting the event, the tradition, the players and their accomplishment. It would have been political if Trump didn’t invite them. Americans can show respect for the office, the traditions, the positives of the nation without agreeing with the current leader.

Kids in schoolyard playgrounds, not so much.
Oh, and TikTok is a really bad place to get info or base any opinions on. It’s drivel, and proudly fake news.

It is literally from the White House’s TikTok feed. Trumps own people made the fake video. As I said the players are being used as political props.

Yup, these men are clearly being played as pawns in an elaborate scheme to overthrow other nations governments. The smiles are all fake, the applause was totally rehersed, and Trump’s enthusiasm about the game (he just sounded like he he watched and enjoyed it), the facts the shared about saves made and a terrific team effort, these were all just insensitive narratives and false lies for some dastardly unspecified plans.

Pool poor tools of the political downtrodded when it could have been a celebration of perseverance and victory.

the men's team got the invite, the women's team did not. The women's team outperformed the men's team and won gold twice this century. This is part of Trump's signature move

the men's team got the invite, some went because they love trump, some because it's tradition, some because they are unaware (I doubt that a high percentage of professional athletes know much about politics but it would be hard to know know trump policies and that he is a pedophile etc) and some who understood how the tradition was being turned into a spectacle for an ever increasingly hated politician chose to stay away. I would have thought the Hughes bros would have stayed away simply because their mom is part of the women's team. But they are young men who chose for themselves

The irony of it is that trump was exclaiming how the USA is winning too much . . . blah blah blah . . . and the only true thing he said all night was that the US men's hockey team won. It was the only win mentioned that was a true win for the USA. And then Connor H gets awarded the highest civilian prize/trophy/medal for beating Canada. Think about that, they are so fucking excited to have won they make that award. Like it's the best possible sports achievement ever!

And then if you watched the game the better team lost. It happens sometimes and it did that day. Canada carried the play, Hellebuck played the best game of his life, McKinnon missed an open net he missed once in his life. The lesser team won so they get the accolades. Great, awesome. Time to move on. Who is going to win Lord Stanley's Cup?
