Im a bit of a hippie in some areas. My parents instilled reduce, reuse, and recycle into my head as a kid. An envelop (which I of course gladly accept without complaint) does feel wrong. I’d rather we reduce as I don’t have a reason to reuse the envelopes and recycling is such a chore.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with cash. The envelop started in the USA where all of sex work is a crime. Putting it in an envelop and not handing it directly to the lady could be seen as a gift. But ladies still got arrested with the envelop.

I just put the correct amount in my wallet ahead of time, with an extra bill for a tip, if warranted, and count it out on arrival.
