Before my mom passed she said the thing about getting older is that your friends and heroes start dying. Lost 3 buddies the past 2 weeks, nothing lifestyle or too old related just bad luck I guess. Few weeks ago legendary jockey Ron Turcotte died, then I hear that one of my fav actors Graham Greene died way too young, Ray Davies (Kinks), Mark Volman (Turtles), Rick Davies (Supertramp), and Ken Dryden amongst others are all gone. And Willie Nelson is ailing. All part of the big game I guess - glad to still be in it!!

I go to more funerals than birthday parties these days.

I also still think of icons at their peak, not how they are today or that they are long gone: Prince, David Bowie, Tom Petty, George Michael ... and more.

Pretty sure the Kinks Ray Davies is still kicking at 81.

But point taken.

Either we lose our friends and heroes or they lose us.

Sasha psychologist once said to me, us feeling pain isn’t a bad thing because it means we’re alive

On the other hand. No bills, no stomach to feed, no body to take care of. It's actually not too bad to go when you look further. I will miss the nhl playoffs like crazy. That's about it.

Perhaps you were thinking about RIP David Johansen RIP who recently passed, co founder of the New York Dolls, most pendants say they were god (glam) fathers of punk. Side bar - great doc out on DJ directed by Martin Scorsese

Still lost in the '60s
R.I.P. Sonny Curtis at age 88. He was one of Buddy Holly's Crickets, and he wrote such classics as "Walk Right Back," "I Fought the Law," and both versions of the Mary Tyler Moore Show theme.

Harry Houdini made a pact with his wife that if he died first he would attempt to contact her with a secret code that only the two of them knew. He died on Halloween in 1926. Bess his wife held a seance every year after on Halloween for 10 years but never was contacted by her dead husband. Some say this shows there is no afterlife. We’ll all find out eventually.

Wow. That was a long innings. Major hit writer. Should have set him up in clover for a lifetime. The Mary Tyler Moore theme alone would have done that. RIP

"Only the good die young." Unfortunately, seems that Billy Joel may be joining the list soon. FYI, HBO did a great documentary on his life.
