Just a suggestion, when discussing the law, you're better off citing judges who decide what the law is, even better is the Supreme Court of Canada, whose statements on what the law actually is are final. Period. Full stop. No further argument permitted.
That said, while I know I've seen the cases of the SCC commenting on the legality of the exchange of money for sex (which is 100% not illegal in Canada), I can't readily find the actual case.
However, keeping a common bawdy house, procuring, soliciting in a public place, living off the avails and so forth are illegal.
See here (in the actual Canadian Criminal Code, a rather decent source law dontcha think?):
http://www.canlii.org/en/ca/laws/stat/rsc-1985-c-c-46/latest/rsc-1985-c-c-46.html .
Read sections 210 to 213. That's the actual law of Canada on prostitution.
This endless drivel about what is and is not legal is annoying. Outcall prostitution is totally, 100% legal (as long as you don't do it in the same place over and over again, and neither does anyone else). Essentially everything else is illegal. However, how LE chooses to enforce the law makes it somewhat grey.
For example in Edmonton, this is the Police's stance on MP's:
http://www.edmontonpolice.ca/Commun...on/Prostitution/LegalitiesofProstitution.aspx
Read the paragraph on MP's and what the cops consider to be legal and illegal. Note especially their view on how MP workers can be treated by MP owners:
"Exercising control, direction or influence -- s.212 (1) (h):
Another form of pimping or extorting vulnerable people. If someone exercises control, direction, and influence on where a Sex Trade Worker goes and who a Sex Trade Worker goes with they are committing an illegal act. Escort agencies and massage parlours can be prosecuted under this law. The only way an escort agency or massage parlour can avoid breaking this law is if they allow the escort or masseuse to decide if they want to go to a date without penalizing them for refusing."
Note to the daft out there, you cannot rely on this statement from the police because what the law is a matter of interpretation for a JUDGE to decide not the cops. Of course, if the COPS never CHARGE YOUR STUPID HORNY ASS, you'll never get before a judge now will you? See how the law works? If the cops won't charge it, what the Criminal Code says may be completely fucking irrelevant now isn't it? That said, other police departments (say for example Calgary's) take a completely different view of the law. Notice that there aren't almost 50 massage parlours in Calgary (those poor bastards...)? Gee, I wonder why that is? Plenty of outcall escorts and incall types though (not that I'm that familiar with the Calgary scene). Guess what police forces in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal have decided the law will be? Think about it.... Now do you see?
Everyone fucking happy now?
Christ, the cackling of ignorant geese and petulant chickens is annoying!
Anyways... I hope I've relieved some of you of your ignorance. You can thank me later.
As for prostitution being legalized, well, this country has long fucking way to go before that happens. Germany has legalized prostitution, Canada has extraordinarily fuzzy laws in the area. The States (most of them anyways) make it crystal fucking clear. You offer your wife or girlfriend money for sex, your shit is going to jail. You do it over the phone, in complete privacy and the authorities find out, your ass is going to jail. Sure the cops enforce it however they like, but the U.S is a country where married couples have been charged and convicted of a crime for engaging in consensual oral sex. (go figure that shit out... I don't care to. Just remind me not to fuck in the U.S. when I'm there lest I break some completely fucking asinine law that's on their books). But remember, prostitution is relatively hard (as aptly demonstrated here) to figure out how to do legally in Canada. Once you got it figured though, it's a piece of cake. Otherwise, you take your chances. I think (for what that's worth, which is a damned sight more than the other commentators I see in here) you're relatively safe, pooning in the approved fashion (approved by the local police force that is) in Canada. However, remember, a pissed off cop can still make your fucking day when you're doing the deed at an MP or wherever else and then it's up to a judge to decide whether you've broken the law or not.
