Looks like the erotic ad section is no longer according to a report on CNBC.

Saw it on the news in US

Maybe hasn't hit Canada or the report was incorrect.

I just checked the CL ers sections for New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington DC.... their ad sections are still accessible, but updates seem to have stopped around 1 am this morning.

What on earth do they think they're going to call it and get away with?

I suspect that "adult gigs" for "arm candy" or other new slang will get very popular. "Adult gigs" has no posting fee in the US like ERS. That and as someone else said, theraputic services.
I agree, it's just 6 of one 1/2 dozen of the other.

To me this looks like a way for the AG's to say that they are tough on prostitution, it will not really change anything but they can say they are enacting new laws etc. Same with the BS about the ad's expiring after 7 days, most of the girls post everyday or multiple times a day.

Typical retarded American reaction.. Did any one fo those idiots stop to think that the reason they even caught that guy is because his IP was traced?

Now the next psycho can go troll personal ads or pick a girl up in his car. This is in addition of course to the fact that a different section of the personal ads will now carry the solicitation ads - probably with some kind code that will only confuse matters and expose genuine relationship seekers to solicitation from clients etc.

How predictably lame!

My respect for American government has been steadily eroded over the past 10 years. It makes me sad..:( :(

I think they got tired of searching for weapons of mass destruction and now need to shift their focus somewhere else. This will not stop print ads and will not stop other sites like backpage.

Hillarious

Someone posted in the vancouver CL that EROTIC services is being cancelled by Craigslist and then cut and pasted a news article out of Chicago. What was funny was the little commentary in the spot for listing your geographic location: it said " GET AN HONEST JOB NOW "

Puratanism is alive and well here too...lol. Probably someone in the valley...

Everything appears close to normal to me. What has changed is the location of the "erotic" category under the services section. (Check any US city) Look further down the column than where it usually appears and there it will be with what is, I believe, a new category: "Adult".

Now, what has changed (at least in the several US cities I checked) is that there is about a 3 hour time lag between the posting and when it appears on the site.

Rumors on SFRedbook say that each ad is being checked before it is released for posting, and the price is now $10, all of which is supposed to be going to charity.

According to CNN this is basically correct. Interesting to see if naked pictures of girls with their legs spread wide open with a full view of their pussies are going to pass the review process. Personally I'd be inclinded to waive the $10 for these type of pic's. lol

I was just watching the evening news, and yeah, this new "adult" ad catagory will be screened by CL-employees before the ad is published.

Would they (CL) bother to monitor jurisdictions outside of the US? I don't see it. They're doing it because of pressure from US state A-G offices to curtail prostitution in the US, but the A-Gs don't care about jurisdictions outside the US.

Inbetween your Mom's legs...
Is it just me or is it all the better that CL is gone.

I never quite understood why people would place a ad on there, as a provider you want to attract a certain clientelle, is CL exactly the clientelle you want to attract, It would seem it`s like one step up from working the streets.

CL was bad for the hobbyist, because of the Bait and Switch, Scams, robberies etc..etc...

With the recent events in the news it`s bad for the providers.

Is the only good thing about CL was it was free? out of the usual suspects spar, LE, Eros, CVibe, Ter, Eme, EC, and DVZ. Only EC and DVZ provide a free listing.
