The ratio is not 10 to 1 lol That was a what if question. There are approxamatly 100,000 more single men then women in Canada.
This is easy to see when you go to online dating sites etc. and count the total number of men to women.

I completely agree there. I don't think it's a fair generalization at all, it really depends on any woman values, priorities or goals. That's all it is, but to say that Canadian and Western women value career over family? Maybe some do, just like some men do as well. But the truth is that there are many women, if not most of them who put their careers on hold to focus on family. Of course there are also a lot of men who make that choice too

The perception or belief that women put more importance on career, I think, is more about a lot of women making sure they find themselves in a position where there is no complete 100% dependency on their husband/partner, should things not work out down the road (which they very well may not - what's the divorce rate again?), leaving them without anything to fall back on. Some of it is misinterpreted as selfish, which it hardly is. I'm not quite sure how it means women value career over family. Not any more than men do anyway.
I think we are all becoming more selfish to some degree, and while yes, there are women who do choose career over family, it is hardly a majority nor is it limited to women as there are many more men who make that choice IMHO.Honestly, I think that to consciously & deliberately rule one out one 'group' & specifically go out in search of another (i.e. the singleabroad dude) shows these men's insecurity. I am not delusional enough to think any of you will agree, but it's:
1- insecurity
2- immaturity
3- centered on personal needs, want your cake and eat it too (or think you can eat it too without sharing)

While the anecdote about the scared men on the cruise was pretty funny, sorry but if they married scary bitchy women, either they were dumb to begin with, or they are dumb now to put up with it. I'm not going to feel sorry for grown men who just aren't doing anything about it. It doesn't make any kind of statement about 'western women'. The truth is that the demands and expectations most companies and corporations have past a certain level (managers, directors..) are unrealistic and impossible to meet when you have kids, especially younger ones. In my experience, most women when they had small kids, tended to shift their focus which meant no real possibility of advancement, while their husbands could still put in the extras (hours, responsibility) and continue to advance in their careers.

In Canada, a man can take paternity leave but typically that leave is given to the mother and the man is frowned upon for taking extended leave...
A women who has children over the age of 6 and isn't going to have any more, is what many employers are looking for...

Out of my six sisters only one of them is truely unselfish. They all admit that they are selfish though. A lot of women do not but give you that smile that they got it good.

I guess I should also mention that western men are highly seeked out by non western women. In some countries when you get divorced the woman get nothing. You think the men are bad here on average trying going to Ukraine lol!
