Cant compare hockey to soccer...
In hockey they have the lastest armour to protect players from hits, designed to lessen the blows.
In soccer you take your lumps as you run into someone or they run into you, especially if you go into the air.
Hockey players tend more towards bulk, while soccer players are all stamina.
Hockey players take breaks, and use ice skates that they glide on (20-30 min on ice for a player). Soccer players are constantly on the move and they have to run, stop, start, walk etc (all 90 minutes for a player).
Hockey players are really pussies compared to soccer players, take away their helmets, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, pants and shin guards, male cup, they are fucken wimps. Pretty much the protective gear protects them from harm.
Not so for soccer players. The boards in hockey absorb most of the force of a hit, not so for open ice hits. The speed in hockey is a liability to one getting hit on open ice.
For soccer the most injury comes from open air hits and then fall, and the aspects of getting slide tackles.
