Richmond is known for these types of raids, targets, or whatever you wanna call it. Reasons to avoid that area.

How does Swan lake stay operable in Richmond when shit like this happens? Quite the hypocrisy going on.

I'm sure Swan Lake is used by local politicians and businessmen enough to keep it open.

I wonder what's the end goal for the police here.
Can they can put anyone in jail for soliciting? A fine and community service for sure
However, unless they were soliciting services from a minor. I don't think this will have the effect they're thinking.

Have not province
The image they used in the article shows PERB pulled up on the screen.
Yes let's be honest here. Members of law enforcement, the media, and university researchers browse here as part of their job. Back in the 2000's we even had an accredited nurse here to help with sexual health and sex work questions.

Basically for Richmond RCMP once you had that big successful bust back in the 2000's, it becomes part of their "operations folder" based on precedent. Although this operation focused on clients, I'd rather they focus their efforts in stopping and arresting the black pimps from Ontario and Quebec sending their trafficked girls here.

For some reason Richmond is putting up more of a stink than other areas in the lower mainland....

You never really see this push happening in Downtown Vancouver, Kingsway, or Metrotown.

Is it a foreign thing, because with YVR nearby there's a lot of connections to the 'old world' that see more 'human trafficking' than other areas?

The way I interpret the law on this hobby, is that as long as things don't go too loud, the cops won't care enough to go out of their way to bust people. And IMO, Richmond isn't exactly my go to place for finding a provider, since venues are too spread out and away from major transit routes to plan for.... so I can't see Richmond being rampant with sexual 'exploitation' that they need to enforce the law. Unless this is a political thing? Or something to make foreign investment seem more lucrative?

elections aren't too far away and Kash Heed no doubt wants to show everyone that he is a tough on sex crime guy. Too bad he lets all the crime groups operate private escort sites in almost every new apartment building in Richmond but chooses to pick on soft targets.

So, as a learning thing, you can only be charged if the police can prove you showed up with the irrefutable intent to purchase sex acts and that the burden of proof is quite high requiring first-hand observation / interaction and not hear-say allegations.

In other words, the police standing outside one of the known condo buildings means they can't prove intent. Standing outside one of the SPs units inside the condo building is not good enough to prove intent.

Really what needs to happen is for a police officer to receive a request for a sex act (online, text, email), you go over to the address, enter the residence (condo, house, whatever), you pull out cash and say something incriminating like, "here is the money for that sex act we discussed" or for the undercover police officer to request the money for the sex act you two discussed.

I guess what I am seeking confirmation on is the burden of proof for police is quite high as described above. Also, it sounds like independents could be more suspect at this stage. Established agencies with established SPs should be fine unless they are compromised somehow.

I assume if the police suspect something is going on in a specific condo building AND a specific condo unit / residence, they could get a warrant? Possibly catch people in the act, but they would lack that first-hand proof that the two or more people smashing aren't doing so because they got paid.

Bonus question: I assume if you ask: "are you a cop?" they have to answer truthfully, otherwise it could be entrapment. I think entrapment is a little grey in terms of legal permeability.

Wasn't there a bit of a vigorously posted thread not long ago about a Richmond apartment building where the building Karens were self policing the place? Could that have something to do with this? Some kind of self righteous group of citizens raising shit with the police?
