This guy is about a year younger than me. His parents immigrated from Germany in the 1950s. They have 3 sons. Two of them are okay and have nothing to do with the third. They all had a good and prosperous childhood and the third went to university getting more than one degree. It was his parents who encouraged him to see Hitler as being a hero as they were taught that in the Hitler Youth (although the female organization was called different). Nobody did anything to the boys except their parents and they grew up middle class. The neighbours did nothing except being Slavic or non-white.There are 2 sides to every story.
About 30 years ago I was talking to a older German man that was born and raised in Ontario. As a young teenager in the 50s, he said he and his brother were always getting into trouble in the neighbourhood and were known as the "bad german boys". This is just after WW2 and all germans were seen as Nazis, even though their parents were born in Canada and their grandparents were immigrants from Germany in the late 1890s etc. Growing up German in the 1950s/60s in Canada was not a good thing for some Germans; especially in non german neighbourhoods.
One thing I will tell you about human nature is that some people are fuckening lunatics when it comes to getting payback for any perceived or imagined slights. I lived in a neighbourhood once where I found a sock or other material stuffed into the exhaust of my furnace (plastic pipe exhaust). My thoughts just kids in the neighbourhood fucking around....
So what kind of shit did the neighbours do to this German Nazi? What set him off?
Could be he was a "Karen", just causing trouble for everyone. Today there are no explanations for "Karens" in society today.
1. The German people lost WW1 (due to resources and lack of food stuff in Germany);
2. Had to pay off the War debt, causing massive inflation in Germany;
3. The 1920s saw the beginning mass unemployment in Germany and the great depression at the end of the 1920s;
4. The rise of the Nationalist Socialist Party in Germany and their work projects brought success/prosperity to Germany in the 1930s;
5. Germany's problems were blamed on Jews, non-desirables due to proproganda by the catholic church (blamed the jews for jesus death), and the Nazis 1 sided control of the press;
6. One bright spot for kids and teenagers in Germany was the Hilter Youth programs. Sports and competition to control the energy of youths and add in a little propaganda for the indoctrination of the young. Can't blame them as they see the Hilter Youth as a good thing of their childhood and teenage years due to the shitty years in the 1920s and early 1930s...
Some soldiers, when they get home from war, never talk about it again. They just want to live their lives in peace.
There are always causes and effects.....
My father was in a slave labour camp, enduring the horrors of war, and scheduled for execution twice. He lucked out but was fucked up. He came to Canada where he was discriminated against. My childhood was harsh and poor but I didn't grow up to be the asshole terrorizing my neighbours. Too many excuses for the Germans like that. I have work colleagues and now even relatives in Germany and even they think this asshole is fucked up. Yah, causes and effects. I was taught to get beyond them and not use them as an excuse. Real people don't use those excuses, they strive to be good and do good.
