people on this thread need to chill the fuck out... especially with the personal insults.
it has been said that the problem with democracy is the voter. its absolutely true. even the most rational of us make decisions with our emotions.
and we humans all recognize rationality as paramount. except when it doesn't work with our emotions and belief systems.
the social sciences have provided that respectful discussion... where specifics are questioned regarding peoples current understanding are the only way forward. granted, i've participated enough in these political forums to have experienced that the most vocal of participants will simply ghost the conversation when rational arguments are not supporting their belief systems. when peoples beliefs are a major part of who they identify as a person then there is little chance of moving the needle no matter what rational arguments are provided.

One group will respond with "Yeah but x liberal did y"
Another group will say "Yes she did a terrible thing by mocking someone with a disability".
Nobody has to be a liberal to see that it is wrong. Saying it is wrong does not imply forsaking you political stance.
A person can do the right thing or they can blindly adhere to their us vs them dogma.
