"I just prefer a bit more 'stealth' in my speed"

This is exactly why I drive a full size long box crew cab truck that has 0-60 times in the low 5 seconds. Complete sleeper!

oh, how can I forget...dual transfer cases and sway bar disconnect :twitch: *facepalm*
must be a standard transmission for this ride!!

OK lady, explain dual transfer cases. I know what a transfer case does, but why would a person want two of them?

I am fortunate
I drive atleast 2 new cars 6 days a week ..
It could be any thing from a 370Z to a Yaris
Or a F 150 to a Cadillac escalade.
Maybe throw in an Audi A5 or a corvette now and then..
If it new and on the car lot I may of driven one or two

But I don't own a car myself any more ,don't really need. One I am well versed with using transit . In victoria and lower main land.

But my car of choise would be a Older RX7. From 30 yrs ago.
Saw a You tube vid. On how to rebuild the rotary motor.

Are you a car salesman? Car delivery guy?

Dual tranfer cases is for serious 4wheeling and yes I do. The second one usually just has a hi and low. High being the regular gears in the vehicle and low being lower geared. :thumb:

The dual transfer cases I've seen, are usually an aftermarket product, and usually kept quite short to help keep the drive-shaft angles from getting too steep. Not usually "Hi-Low", usually straight through and Low.
Done right you crawl real slow. Done wrong, you break things. ...a lot.
I've got dual air lockers, and switched to a larger engine with 2.5x torque, and a trans which has a lower 1st, with the attached t-case having a lower low range than the original.
Looked at dual, but just didn't need the extra crawl torque, since I can already stand it up a wall to the tire traction limits.
I had the slip-yoke eliminator added, which helps keep the drive shaft longer, and then did a center spline rear drive shaft with Spicer over-size c.v.'s.
All drive angles are still less than 2 degrees.
I learned to weld to get what I wanted...

*sigh* I wish I wasn’t chicken to weld. It’s the only thing I can’t do. Your jeep sounds perfect. I’m jealous

I agree with TT, try it !

The women in the classes that I helped with usually got quite good at it, since they paid attention, listened, and had a softer touch...
Just make sure the safety equipment fits and works...

Being the son of a mechanic, I was a total gear head in my youth. Many cars came and went over the years. My first car in high school was a 72 Dodge Demon 340 4 speed. If I still had that car, I wouldn't need to see escorts. A total babe magnet she was. I paid $1200 for that car in 1982. She was all original except for the cragars. If I kept it, she would be worth more than 25 grand today. I sold it to buy my first work truck when I graduated. I always wanted to buy it back, but the guy I sold it to wrote it off.

The most fun ride I owned was a 1978 Dodge Powerwagon shortbox with a 440 4 speed with 36" swampers. I could smoke all 4 tires till they blew. There wasn't much she wouldn't go through. The only drawback, my semi truck actually gets better mileage than that Powerwagon did.

The sweetest ride I owned was a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T 440 6 pack plum crazy with 42000 original miles. I was at the right place at the right time. A ladies husband passed away and she was selling off his small car collection. She offered it to me for $5000. I couldn't get to the bank fast enough. I only owned it for a month before I was offered 25 grand for it. I bumped him up to 32 grand.

wtfguy

I prefer high horsepower rides...:biggrin1: anything under 400hp kinda puts me to sleep. There was a time when my "fast car" was 750hp and my "slow car" was only 550hp ;)

Current ride is only about 420hp...it's just not enough. Horsepoweritis is a sickness. Once you've had it, it's hard to go back.

All I can say is if you EVER get the chance to buy a rust free 1985 Toyota 4X4 that is a Turbo Diesel.....BUY IT.....and fucking REJOICE as you just bought a truck that will drive for 1 MILLION MILES....it's only enemy is rust.

I had an 02 Jette diesel. Make sure you change the timing belt at the recommended intervals or it will cost you in the long run. Also they don't like puddle jumping around town, they carbon up. Literally get out on the hiway and blow the carbon out of it every once in awhile.

Make sure to run a good fuel conditioner in it, especially in the winter.

Ive noticed this and have been. It was used as a hiway car most of its life so it’s a happy little diesel engine. I’m surprised how much jam it has, I kicked a Nissans ass! :p What’s the best fuel conditioner? I have some but it’s my first diesel...

It is seriously FUCKED that during WW2 the Germans built tanks such as the Tiger/King Tiger that would drive 1 MILLION miles.....and today Volkswagen sells products with built in failures...such as a shitty rubber timing belt BUILT to FAIL.....get that timing belt replaced of the engine just plain fucking dies due to it being an interfereance engine with a planned design flaw.Needless to say I will never own a POS VW again.
