I had to get some shopping done today so I went to Costco....bought myself a whole striploin....carved 17 steaks out of that MOFO....17 AAA+ New York striploin steaks....I got a few other things as well.....the icing on the cake was at the checkout...who of all people is in front of me?????.....I heard the voice...and then recognized the face in an instant....SugarK was ahead of me in line LOL.....she gave me a hug and said hello in her special way....we enjoyed small talk....it was fun.....I do see SugarK once in a while for dimsum but this was so unexpected and very cool.

Costco ROCKS

I love COSTCO but I never get out of there without dropping 5 hun. Whether I need to or not lol
Exactly the reason I decided to opt out of a renewed membership. Costco is way too easy to spend whether or not you need it.

Who's SugarK?
SugarK is the mamasan/proprietor of Sugarland...the best asian micro in Calgary.

I believe SR is saying that Cosco Rocks! .... not just because of the yummy steaks he purchased, by the way when is the bbq SR, nothing better then a nice bbq steak.
But that he was so lucky as to have SugarK in front of him and he was so lucky to have gotten such a nice greeting from her. It is a small world.

I have no idea who SugarK is, but glad you enjoyed your shopping trip SR.
AS for Cosco it is a bad bad place...I go in for one item and come out with 20. Spend way too much.
Yes it is a small world....I am not a mountain and neither is SugarK....mountains dont meet but people do....but basically yeah it was a nice delight....I have no worries about discretion as I am single....and she has no worries as she is not a working girl.

As for Costco being a bad place because you spend too much.....go with a list and stick to it...no impulse buying unless it is a super deal and you actually need it....not want it...need it.

A friend of mine from a small interior BC town took a road trip and visited me a while back.....his main goal was a run to Costco since I have a membership.....he shot the whole load and bought everything you can imagine....whole striploins/canned food/cereal/spices/condiments..the works....even female hygiene stuff as his GF had 2 daughters....I was shopping at the same time and he commented that I bought the cheapest toilet paper...my response was...."you like wiping your ass with money?".....he promptly switched LOL.....all told he had 2 shopping carts that were piled high and he spent over $1000.....his F-150 crew cab was stuffed to the gills with the non perishable stuff and we managed to refrigerate the perishable stuff as well as freezer the frozen stuff over night....I asked him how much he saved a couple months later and he said if he had bought all of that stuff and "shopped locally" he would have spent over $3500.....and the steaks would not have been as good.

Costco ROCKS......you just have to limit impulse buying.

Besides all the wonderful stuff you can buy at Costco; the MAJOR point for me is their glorious zero-hassle return policy.
That's true. And on the flip side the part I don't like is that they don't have a small number of items check out line. So if you can force yourself to buy only 5-6 things you end up with 1/2 dozen people in front of you each with 50 or more items. :-(

Costco sucks.

The idea is to load up with shit you don't really need (jar of mustard the size of an oil drum/lobster tails marinated in yak butter) because of all the free sampling and supposed low prices, which are only low if you buy ONLY what you NEED, which nobody does. Then, if you factor in the time it takes to run around a giant warehouse and check out 700 items - Costco Really Sucks.

Marketing genius, but everybody spends way more than they intend when they enter the place.

Then there's the gestapo security.

I was looking at the Costco.com site and in the USA they have it even better than us Canadians...no big surprise really.......I sure would like to see the Maine Clambake offered for sale at Canadian Costco outlets....here is the real kicker though....Costco in the USA actually sells funeral caskets with the most basic yet very nice looking option selling for $1200.....I have not had to deal with this aspect of life thus far but from my understanding the cost of a funeral is quite expensive and pretty much all of the funeral homes are merchants of guilt with how they operate...before I posted I tried to look at several local funeral home websites and in no instance did they post a price....I imagine they just hose you in your time of grief like opprtunistic douchebags.

i dunno, sr... goin' through the checkout lineup with a casket? of course you wouldn't have to mess with the boxes to carry the rest of the loot out the door - just put it in the casket! trouble is, you won't have one of those handy dandy costco size platform trucks at home, so you'll have to line up 6 of your neighbours to give you a hand unloading it! :thumb:  :D

So Costco has summer tires for my car on sale. I will need new summer tires this year. They have the set I want, best price, and on sale.
The sale ends Dec 31.

These are summer only tires.

I asked if I can pay now, and have them installed after winter is over.
This is not allowed, as they can't "store" them for me. They must be installed when purchased.

I asked can I buy the tires, take them home, and then have them installed either by them, or another shop, at a later date.
NOPE. That would void all warrantees.

Just shock my head and left.

yeah, they definitely have some fucked up policies regarding their tire servicing

you might be able to get away with just getting the new summers mounted on the rims, then you could leave your winters on the vehicle for now and get the new, mounted summers installed later. it's worth asking about. all they really need to start the warranty properly is the mileage on your vehicle; however, they need to sight the vehicle as they can't really take the customer's word for that. either way what they charge for installation is cheap as dirt

their tire service warranty covers changing winters for summers and vice-versa at some ridiculously low cost, including rotation and balancing. and only one set needs to have been bought at costco

i'd go to their actual tire shop and talk to their chief mechanic to find out what is really required. you might not have to get the new summers actually installed on the vehicle, possibly just on the rims, then they take your vehicle mileage at that point and you're good to go

Yeah I was at the actual shop. Buying extra rims would make the sale price not worth it. I don't think it would work anyways, I have 17 in rims, but if people upgrade they always go to 18 or bigger. The car has very large brakes and the stock 17s are the only 17s that will fit.

Maybe I could have the summers installed......then 10 minutes later have them change over to my winters (which I would drive in with), then in spring have them change back to summer tires. I think the labour cost of all this nonsense, would actually make the sale worthwhile.
