HOW TO TELL GORE IS RUNNING (OR, IT'S THE WEIGHT, STUPID): When Al Gore started to run for the presidency in 2000, he was thin. By the time the race was over, he had gained a lot of weight (like Clinton in 1992), and then he kept on gaining weight in the months after the election. (Who could blame him?) He also grew a beard.

However, by December of 2002, by the time he announced he was not running for the presidency in 2004, he had slimmed down again. That meant that he had strongly considered running, was getting himself into presidential trim and then decided against it.

Big Al is back to being pretty big right now, or at least he was a few months ago when he was going around promoting An Inconvenient Truth. But if he shows up on TV six months from now, looking 40 pounds lighter while promoting The Assault on Reason, then get ready, he's running.

ANOTHER WAY TO TELL IF GORE IS RUNNING: An Inconvenient Truth will probably be nominated for an Oscar. It's the third highest grossing documentary in history and the most successful documentary of 2006. It will probably win. If you see a chubby, happy Al Gore standing next to the producer and director, celebrating the win at the Oscars, forget it, he's not running. Nothing to do with Hollywood plays well in the heartland (except the movies themselves). The cultural resentment of Hollywood is almost pathological in certain sections of the country. However, if Gore chooses not to be there -- if he's at the spa that day -- then you can take it to the bank. Big Al's running.

Notice that the picture is cropped so you can't see the people with torches and pitchforks chasing him.

Does he (Gore) receive carbon credits for this???

Of course - he buys them from his own company.
Crapola - Gore does not buy credits "from his own company". Perhaps you should review exactly what the company Generation Investment Management does/is about

(be careful with your comeback :D )

GIM pays to offset the energy use of its operations and the personal emissions of its 23 employees, including Gore.

Fat Albert's firm is smelling a lot like a tax avoidance scheme in which a business picks up his private expenses.

But please do tell me who is running around wanting and begging people to buy them while trying to pass a lie off as truth? The same person that is a partner of a company that sells them..........Gore......nice try OTBn!

The funniest thing to me about Al Gore's movie is that, when I saw it, I heard nothing about some of the claims he made, and even though I have no degree in the sciences, and even though I had not studied the specific claims he made ... I knew that many of his claims were simply false.

Like his claim that he could visually detect, with his naked eye, the difference in an ice core sample from before and after the Clean Air Act. Or that his professor could possibly have "intuited" global warming. Or that a graph that shows temperature rising before CO2 levels shows that, he says, CO2 increases cause warming.

Even a lay person can pick this stuff apart, even without doing actual research. That's how obviously bad it is.

Not all of it, of course. Some of it is decent. But far too much of it is just bad, and most of it is extremely alarmist, like his completely nonsensical simulations of flooding that could only happen if ice sheets completely melt, which no one thinks is going to happen.

The part where he notes that the 9/11 memorial is going to be underwater, that we have a "bigger threat than terrorism" -- without noting the fact that no climate scientist believes this will happen -- is a textbook case of extermist, alarmist, propaganda.

The funniest thing to me about Al Gore's movie is that...
The funniest thing to me is how often you'll plagiarize other people's writings and present them as your own. Can you not think for yourself?

A new TIME poll, conducted by SRBI Inc., finds that while a vast majority of voters (65%) think the Democrats will probably win the 2008 Presidential election, hypothetical matchups of actual candidates paint a very different picture. Specifically: the Democratic front-runner, Hillary Clinton, has a comfortable lead over Barack Obama for the party's nomination, but loses to the G.O.P. leader, Rudy Giuliani, by 5 points and to John McCain (in second place for the Republican nomination) by 2 (within the margin of error).

But these matchups may say more about Clinton's weakness as a general election candidate than they do about the Democratic field. This week, John Edwards and Obama both have improved their showings in the primary field and, even more significantly, Obama now ties with Giuliani in a trial heat (45%-45%) and bests McCain by a margin of 47% to 42%. What's more, both Edwards and Obama have made inroads into Clinton's geographic strongholds. In the Northeast, Edwards has narrowed her lead to just 11 points (down from 22 in March) and Edwards now leads in the Midwest. Clinton also faces a very tight race with Obama in the West, with just a 2% lead.

The Republicans' vulnerability in a general election is underscored by the party's dissatisfaction with the candidate field. Only 61% say they are happy with the selection — as compared with 71% of Democrats — and 28% aren't. These levels of satisfaction translate to showings for particular candidates as well: Only one Republican — Giuliani — breaks 45% in the proportion of voters who say they will "definitely" or "probably" support his candidacy."America's Mayor" ties with Obama at 48% for likely support, followed by Clinton at 46%, and Edwards and undeclared candidate Al Gore tied at 45%.

Randy Whorewald, I think you have missed the crux of this post. ITS A JOKE. Lighten up man. Of course I could be wrong. :)
citylover?
Well Thighman, you are wrong. - There you have it from the tongue of C-Licker himself. There is a lot more to this issue than meets the eye. This discussion has been going on for many months -Its a lot more than 'just' a JOKE and spans more than one thread or even one board. (Of course C-licker has since been banned from that other board.)

Global warming on Mars?

News flash!

Mars is being hit by rapid climate change and it is happening so fast that the red planet could lose its southern ice cap, writes Jonathan Leake.

Scientists from Nasa say that Mars has warmed by about 0.5C since the 1970s. This is similar to the warming experienced on Earth over approximately the same period.

Perhaps we could send Al Gore there to do another movie?

But lets get back on topic here:

Given the colossal foreign and domestic policy failures of the Bushevik Monarchy, this is the opportunity of a lifetime for Gore to capture the big prize. He's already gone through the vetting process in 2000 and he's skeleton-free. He's the only Democrat who can enter the race at virtually the last minute, with massive funds behind him, and shoot right to the head of the pack. And let's not forget the most important thing from 2000: he's already won the popular vote once before, and, as many believe, the election. Mark my words, Al Gore will not only run, but he will be re-elected.
